If that is the case, say goodbye to the SBoHE and NDUS.

"Seem to support". If the defecation hits the rotary oscillator, they will all be ducking for cover. That is when someone (Chapman?) will be targeted. He will be the most visible in this mess, as you demonstrated in your post and will have the biggest target on his backside. Maybe you're right and they will all back each other up, but I know how politics can go and alliances deteriorate. Maybe not in North Dakota, but it sure happens elsewhere. I know Louisiana is a whole different animal from North Dakota and this mess quite obviously doesn't compare to Katrina. but look what happened there. Longtime friendships and alliances were broken. Escambia County, Florida where I live always seems to have some political intrigue going on from the school board to the sheriffs office to the county commissioners and you neve know who is going to cut who off or side with the opposition.
-
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the light shines very brightly on any of them, but if this "course of conduct" can be demonstrated and proven, Chapman may be the fall guy. Iowa you seem to have pretty good pulse on what is going on in the SBoHE, so I trust what you when you say everyone knew, but that does not excuse any of them.

I believe we will see the trickle of information continue. If what Potts says is true, it could be the undoing of Chapman. The big question is does he have anything to substantiate or corroborate this or is this just what he felt was happening.
-
Is this the appropriate place to use a "vaht"? I hope so, because it sure fits.
-
Sorry, I was on vacation the last time this was "discussed".

I love the Blue Brothers. Good old Bob's Country Bunker.

You're missing the point. Go back to your original post asking what Potts has done for NDSU. Chapman complained to Potts about UND opening up a campus in Fargo. Potts shut down the "campus". Potts did something for NDSU.
-
You are correct that there is still a presence, but it is not the campus that was opened in 2004. It is called UND Fargo Outreach.
-
To the glee of many at NDSU, didn't Potts shut down UND Fargo? Wasn't this because Chapman complained vociferously to Potts? Didn't Potts also end UND's telemedicine program? Also because Chapman was complaining to Potts? Sounds like Potts has done a lot for NDSU and not much for UND.
-
So, through all that has gone on the past few months with Potts, Chapman, the SBoHE and the governor, the only thing that you can come up with is that UND is jealous of Chapman. Amazing.

The Argus shows UND athletic expenses at $4,700,873 without hockey. Using the figures from OPE for total athletic expenses of $9,958,728, would mean that the expenses for hockey are $5,257,855. I admit that I don't know the inner workings of UND's athletic budget, but does it sound right to anybody that the hockey expenses are a half million dollars higher than the expenses for everything else? Aff, I'm not shooting the messenger here, just trying to get answers.

Thanks, your explanation of the distribution of scholarships on the women's side is helpful. I had not previously heard that 22 scholarships had been added on the women's side.
-
I'm not sure that I follow this one. I understand that Team Makers had an increase in giving, but how does that equate to being in compliance with Title IX? If you're telling me that the scholarships that were funded by the increased giving is in compliance with Title IX, I would understand. NDSU increased football scholarships from 36 to 63 in short order. In what sports did NDSU increase scholarships on the women's side to stay Title IX compliant? I understand that NDSU benefits from having more males than females, but to what extent?

Honest questions to SDSU and NDSU fans, because I really don't know. Was either school running a deficit prior to the move? Did either school increase student fees to pay for the move to Division I? How did each of the two schools fund their moves? How did each school handle the Title IX issue? I know that SDSU was adding equestrian, was that enough to offset the difference in scholarships? All of UND's athletic department meetings are available online. Is there anywhere where SDSU or NDSU has posted their meeting minutes?

The difference is that UND plays and beats Minnesota and Wisconsin in GF, Minneapolis, Madison and on neutral ice in a sport in which the Gophers and Badgers are considered to be in the top 10 in the country every year. These games are televised and sold-out. Minnesota and Wisconsin baseball and softball are not top teams. There is no way that the baseball or softball games against Minn or Wisc will be televised and sold-out.

Do you have a conference??

The decision gets harder. I read recently in Sioux Illustrated that the baseball alumni have put together the Pinky Kraft Endowment. In the article Greg Cascades says "Our goal is to raise enough money to ensure the program is endowed for it's future ...." and "As the Division I issue continues to linger at UND, the baseball program will need an increased level of support from its alumni to ensure the transition is successful if/when we make that jump." Looks like baseball will be around for awhile.

I've been reading in a number of places that the board is responsible due to inequitable funding. I don't live in ND, so don't know the whole funding battle situation, but it would seem to me that there would have to be more than one school that feels that it was underfunded, but Potts claimed that his fight was with Chapman. Are the remainder of the schools funded above where they need to be and NDSU is the only school underfunded? The would be the only situation that I can see where the funding being "the issue". It seems to me it has to be deeper than funding, as Potts has said on more than one occasion that Chapman refuses to accept Potts' authority. I agree with you, insofar as oversight. This shouldn't have gotten this far, where the chancellor resigns.

Okay, I'll bite on this one. The word promote. Once again Webster's: "to contribute to the growth or prosperity of" Does this say require? The words "every person" jump out at me, also. How in the world can an organization of any sort protect every person from being offended? I'm sure that you have been to a few Sioux/Bison events where fans have gotten out of hand and respect and dignity were thrown out the window. Should the fans then also be banned for being "hostile and abusive"? Is the NCAA supposed to create an atmosphere where the sports events are held with each side just watching. No cheering, no emotion. Just sit there and watch. Welcome to the Fargodome. Sorry, I had to throw that one in.
-
I couldn't find "core issue" in Webster's but here is the definition of "core" from Webster's "a central and often foundational part usually distinct from the enveloping part by a difference in nature". Does the executive committee also get to define what core issues means? How is this part of the foundation of the association? How the NCAA could identify mascots, nicknames and imagery as a core issue for association as a whole is beyond me.
-
I think you're mistaken as to whom I was responding. I referenced Bison Dan's post. I do agree that the campus visit is probably a formality and that an invitation will be forthcoming.
-
I'll change my post to congratulations to "some" Bison fans and also the Jacks. There always has to be one wise guy who when he gets good news will tell you how bad his good news is for you. There have been many trials and tribulations for NDSU over the past couple of years over conference affiliation. Do you really think that "if" NDSU, SDSU and IPFW all get into the Mid-Con that there will be no conference openings for the foreseeable future. The only reason that I say "if" is because no invitations have been handed out yet. I sure wouldn't start gloating over things that you can't control. The Big Sky may decide to expand in their fall meeting. Centenary or Oral Roberts may decide that the Mid-Con is not for them anymore. Who knows what could happen in the next couple of years. As for whether UND is going to go through with the move to Division I, I don't think there is any question. The only ones I have seen question it, are a handful of Bison fans who don't UND to move to Division I.

Congratulations. It looks like the invite should be coming later this year.
