  1. Good work defense......a three and out....yes.
  2. The offense will score points, but in the end the defense is still a work in progress. Today's weather. Just below forty and 8 mph wind. MSU 48 UND 24
  3. I was thinking of a way to characterize Zane last night, and I think you're pretty close. Got the job done, at times a bit shaky, but got the job done. Through the games they have both played I'd give the edge to Clark. But having two goaltenders game tested and ready to go at any time is a great thing. PS: I don't think I'd mess with the Rowney line after what they've shown. Parks will make any line better, but if Rowney-Mac-Gaarder play like they played last night, thats a tough group to split apart.
  4. 7-1 if Anchorage had average goaltending IMHO. Kamal will forever remain in my heart for his performance at Mariucci arena two years ago ensuring the gophers of not playing the Final Five. Just as long as he keeps those kind of performances in Minnesota.
  5. I'm not going to say the gophers are the best team in the country, but I don't want to underscore that USA team either. That might be one of the better U-18 teams that they've ever had. A couple bounces, they beat UND, one more save, they beat Minnesota. Yeah, some of these teams go in slow motion when they play the high schoolers, but at the same time they used to go in slow motion and beat these kids 6-0.
  6. Fun to watch. Roll four lines in the third and just grind them down. Observations ~Seemed a bit nervous at times, but the "Reign of Zane" has officially begun. ~Kristo was all over the place.....like we thought he would be. ~Rowney's line was tremendous.....boy has Gaarder grown as a player. ~Nice to see the d men making outlet passes instead of chipping the puck out over and over again, as was the case last year with the whole healthy body situation. Go get two more points now.
  7. I think they've got something with Rowney-MacMillan-Gaarder. That line is all over Anchorage. I mean....all over them every shift.
  8. I think UND comes out and rolls Anchorage the first game, but the second game is a lot closer. I don't care what the score is either night, just get two wins.
  9. Yeah, I tried to average it out a bit. Obviously your fourth line is given a lot shorter leash than your first line. The life of a fourth liner is to keep a cycle grind shift going, or get the puck out of your own end, dump it in there end, and get the heck off the ice.
  10. The book is still out for both teams, but I think in the long run Wilcox will be the guy for Goldy. No clue about UND yet.....Saunders has been great, but Gothberg hasn't really gotten a chance to prove himself. Probably see Zane in the net this weekend, unless Hak keeps rolling with whats working.
  11. I think one thing that last year did for sure was develop a fourth line for this years squad. Pattyn got valuable minutes, and I think he'll lead an extremely gritty fourth unit the entire season that should see a lot of time. If you break down a twenty minute period into shifts of roughly 35-40 seconds you have roughly 30 shifts a period. If your fourth line can take maybe five of those shifts you've got a good chance to win the game. At the same time, if you can get them on the ice in the third period to spell your top units three to four times it makes all the difference in the world. If you're up a few goals in the third period, you can roll four and save some gas in the tank for Saturday. In the playoffs last year you could see which team had more able bodied forwards the day before at the X. Minnesota was the better team, but UND ran out of gas.
  12. Four lines? Wtf? Where will everyone sit?
  13. Yeah, we as fans can make excuses, but we all know that the coaching staff or the team won't accept any excuses made for them. Can't win every game, it'll be okay.
  14. I think the loss leaves UND hungry for next weekend. I think you'll see an excited/fired up hockey team on Friday night against Anchorage. I think one Danny Kristo may have himself a good weekend.
  15. With the way our defense has played on the road I'm hoping for monsoon like conditions. Hey, if they beat Montana State they're the state champs.
  16. Went to bed after the first period, but I kind of expected this result. Only three lines for a second night in a row, even with some core guys back you'll have some issues. Give Fairbanks credit. When a team is skating short handed you do things like pinch your dmen to elongate shifts and keep a team in their own end. I predicted a split, so I'm not going onto the Fire Hak thread yet.
  17. St. Clair's first goal in.....well....a while.
  18. The UND sports information people say clearly a post. But who knows.....
  19. Good gosh.....I'm not going to make it through the game if this keeps up..... No goal.....
  20. Puck might not have went in, is what I'm getting from the Schlossman live talk.
  21. Uhh ohh.....1-0 Nanooks. Not sure why the goal may not count.
