  1. Speaking of Sioux goalies, Brad just posted a neat fact about Brad Eidsness getting into law school at the University of British Columbia. Probably tough for him to retire from hockey, but a feel good story all the way around.
  2. Predictions predictions..... Week #1. Sloppy football, but the Sioux win the game by at least three touchdowns. Week #2. Welcome to the big boys.....Sioux win but by no more than 10 points. Week #3. Sioux lose by two touchdowns. Kind of a measuring stick for them....be nice to get one of these games at some point in time.
  3. The money part is the party thats kind of scary. I'm not sure how close he was to a college degree, but maybe he's thinking that he'll find a way to the NHL and "green"er pastures per say. Aaron had a remarkable career with UND, and I'm really hoping he doesn't call this a mistake in five years.
  4. Seems like he had his mind set on taking off from the minute last season ended. Best of luck to him. I think Gothberg has what it takes to be league rookie of the year. If Grimaldi lets him have it.
  5. I haven't heard a ton about him this spring, and I'm probably not the best one to ask. IMHO the coaches made a HUGE mistake not redshirting Jer last season. He was underutilized, and didn't see as much of the field as he should of for playing as a true Freshman. They have him listed as a running back, but with the stable of guys at running back UND has you would think he'd be used in the slot kind of like how they used Weston Dressler, or how NDSU uses Ryan Smith. I thought for sure he would see more time on specialty teams in the return game, but that really didn't happen either.
  6. So wherever he goes, the kid from LSU probably plays through the end of the year, and then preps himself for the NFL draft by leaving the school at semester time. Doesn't go to class, becomes a celebrity on campus for all the wrong reasons, and gets followed by ESPN the entire year for his accomplishments because he should dominate a lower level. He's a great talent, would make any team better, but I'm more concerned with the integrity of UND football at this point in time than wins and losses. The honey badger is no Matt Frattin....guaranteed.
  7. Talk about a HUGE surprise....no way.....just.....gasp...... I wonder how many other CHL franchises will have the rug pulled from under them after Windsor becomes the first domino to fall.... PS: Agreed that this changes nothing.....
  8. Wish Dale would have stuck it out in Grand Forks. And I wish Bubba was our defensive coordinator. Now, both may be out of jobs if the trend continues in Saluki country.
  9. I'm hopeful that Mr. Jutting finds a head coaching job again somewhere along the line. Tough place to recruit too with all the other programs that actually have decent facilities, etc in the state.
  10. A very good point made about having to pull a redshirt. Today's announcement makes the former tar heal the starter. The coaches have a big decision to make, because I'm betting Joe is the second best QB on the team....is he #2 on the depth chart, or do they want to protect that year and make him off limits to this season.
  11. Could not agree with your more. I was born and raised in Minot, played my high school hockey in Minot, and went to Minot State for a year before transferring to UND. It would raise so much money for the city, and great to see the Sioux play in my hometown. I would buy tickets to the event in a heartbeat.
  12. Liked Frank White's class, loved Dr. Munski's class. Yeah his classes were way too easy, but I don't think I've ever had a professor that cared more about me as a student. Took time to talk to me, and was always very considerate to all students. Anybody remember the name of the guy who teaches/taught soc statistics? Guy wore one pink sock and one white sock all the time because he said he didn't match his socks in the morning. I'm horrible in the field of mathematics, but the guy taught me statistics....some how some way....
  13. Is Slap Shot Pizza still open? Talk about a hole in the wall place that made great pizza and breadsticks. When I was in high school and we had tournaments etc. in GF for hockey that was the first call we made at the hotel. When I went to UND I'm guessing I financed their payroll....
  14. Based on the off the field issues the Griz have been having I'd give UND a real shot of beating them at the Alerus Center. I really hope UND doesn't find themselves on the losing end of six football games. I would consider that a disaster of a season. I'm not delusional, this is the way I see the schedule playing out: ~South Dakota Mines: Win, obviously. ~Portland State: Night game at home, a win. ~San Diego State: First loss of the season. ~Sacramento State: Tough to be on the road two weeks in a row....but I think the Sioux rebound. ~Cal Poly: Win at home. ~Eastern Washington: Loss on the red carpet ~Northern Arizona: Win at home. ~Montana: Loss....but closer than Grizz fans think it will be. ~Montana State: Two losses in a row for the Sioux. ~Southern Utah: Beat em last year, on the home turf they can get them again. ~Northern Colorado: Hopefully no repeat of last year, but a win. 7-4.....Anything better is a fantastic year....anything worse and we're talking about how we can't wait for Joe to start taking reps at the QB position....

Crap....sell..... Kid does seem like a class act. I hope he gets a chance and plays well for Bucky.

I hope we don't see a Garman situation happen all over again. If they take the redshirt off he'll need to be on the field as much as possible.

I'll buy that. Anxious to see if he'll contribute to this years team.

Going back to the 2001 team, I buy middle of the pack. That defense was special. Boy, nothing I enjoyed more than the Alerus center rocking on third down, and Bubba sending a blitz....opposing offensive coordinators knew he was going to blitz the $hit out of them, and they still found ways to get to the QB. The downfall would be the offense. Klosterman was a good QB, they had some good receivers and RB's, but I don't think they would have faired too well against some of the defenses in the Big Sky.

I wonder how the 2001 team would have faired in the Big Sky..... Buy or sell, the 2001 team finishes in the top five of the Big Sky?
  20. Wasn't in the building, so I can't vote on that one. Digger stuffing Malone, and then the place going nuclear is #1 all time in my book.

Give it three to four years before a UND player gets drafted. I can see some free agent signings by chance, but don't see any draft worthy players for the next two years.
  22. Its either the UC-Davis game or the Northern Alabama game for loudest of all time. I think one thing that really helped was the Northern Alabama fans were pretty loud themselves at that game. Just a buzz the whole game....
  23. I don't think the crowd will affect Montana at the Alerus center, based on where they have made appearances in years past. That being said, there shouldn't be an open seat for the football game, and you shouldn't be able to hear yourself think when Montana has the football. The days of the crowd winning games for the team might be over with. PS: Anybody have a video clip of Digger Anderson stuffing Rod Malone on 4th and short at the Alerus? Had to be the loudest moment in Alerus center history....
  24. Did not know about the family ties to the area, a very good thing. If he already has graduated from North Carolina then he would get to transfer anywhere and not have to sit out a season ala Russell Wilson to Wisconsin or Dayne Crist to Kansas. Or Brett Bruneteau to Vermont....
  25. I'd like to think that Hanson is that good of a QB, but then its almost like, "Why is he not still playing I-A ball?"
