This is HOPEFULLY a big step off the ledge weekend for many around Siouxland. How much did that group care that they were playing exhibition games up in Canada over the holiday break? If they really cared, and those two teams played them toe to toe while not playing like crap then it isn't a playoff season, bottom line. All teams have them, and we knew eventually the streak of NCAA tourney appearances would end. Schloss said it pretty well in one of his recaps. This team might have forgot that they have to outwork their opponents in just about every facet to win games. This weekend is a chance for them to win some people back. They have to go out there and win six periods and do it playing the way that got them a five game winning streak heading into the break. Not all will forgive them for going up and laying an egg in Canada, but I think getting a sweep at home may settle some folks down, albeit even if it is against the worst team in the league right now.

Now that they changed the playoff format it makes the task a little less daunting. I mean, beat Germany and you are basically in the playoffs. Slovakia has improved mightily over the years and of course playing Canada and the defending champs will be tough. I guess I'm not even sure what guys can return next year.

Every game the U.S. plays next year is a road game. The anthem will get jeered, etc. Hope the group is ready for massed Canadian craziness.

Hak post game: ~Okay with the effort. ~Made some bad plays defensively. ~Thinks Rocco is okay. ~Wanted to give the young guys some ice time to get some production going. ~Murphy needs something good to happen. ~Parks was good. ~A very valuable weekend for us, needed to play games before CC to get back into the thick of things. In a lot better mood than I thought he'd be in.

Cannot wait to hear Hak post game....that is if he still is the head coach. I bet TH or Haj fires him.
