  1. In perusing various message boards regarding DU's move to the Summit, it appears there are quite a few people who think UND and UNC would be a good fit for the Summit. I know we've been down this road before but I was a bit surprised how many others feel UND and UNC would go to the Summit/MVFC in an instant if they were offered. Initially I was leaning Summit over the Big Sky prior to having an invite. Now that we've been in the Big Sky for half a year, I definitely prefer we stay in the Big Sky. Anyone think UND would go to the Summit if an MVFC invite was included? I would think the chance of that happening is less than 10%.
  2. UNC drew the #5 seed, Oregon, in the NCAA vb tournament. This means that UNC is basically a #15 seed since only 16 teams are seeded in the tournament of 64 (1-4 are #1 seeds, 5-8 are #2 seeds, etc). UND played two other teams beside UNC that made the tournament...USC and Texas A&M. If anyone is interested, here is a link to the tournament bracket: http://www.ncaa.com/...l-women/d1/2012

    FCS Playoffs

I wouldn't call it an obsession. In speaking for myself, my two favorite teams are UND and whoever is playing the bison (as the old saying goes). Also, I think it's somewhat common for fans to cheer on conference mates, especially if your team isn't in the playoffs. Every fan likes to say they are in the toughest conference. If your conference mates do well, that just supports your "theory." Right now, the two (arguably) best conferences in FCS are MVFC and Big Sky...so go Big Sky teams...especially against MVFC teams.
  4. In the second game, UND kept it close until it was 15-13. UNC took over that point and won the set 25-13. Just too many errors by UND. Also need to give UNC credit as they look darn good today. Unless something changes, UND will have to chalk this up to a learning experience for next year. Teams need to step it up a couple notches come tourney time. UNC has and UND hasn't.
  5. Well, UNC came out hot in the first set. It didn't help that UND had 5 service errors as well as a few receiving errors when UNC was serving. Final Score was 25-13. UND will have to step it up a couple of gears to match the intensity and level of play that UNC is demonstrating if they want a chance to continue their season.
  6. Thanks for the clarifications on the radius clause. It definitely is flawed for the reasons you all have posted. I'm guessing it may be amended, but most likely not this year.
  7. Do you or anyone know if there is a "radius clause" in regards to transferring closer to home due to illness in the family? I thought someone had alluded to that earlier. Maybe that has something to do with it. Either way, I know it stinks and I'm not sure why the NCAA is being so boneheaded in this situation. It's really unfortunate.
  8. It stinks that the NCAA is not allowing Jaron Nash to play. I did a quick look for other Texas Tech transfers. It appears as though they have had quite a few players from last years team transfer to other schools. Some of them transferred down to a lower level, however, at least 4 transferred to other NCAA Division I schools, including Cameron Forte who went to Northern Arizona. I looked at the rosters and box scores from each of the schools (Rhode Island, Nebraska, Ohio, and NAU) and none of the transfers have played in a game at their new schools. Only Ohio lists their transfer on their roster (Javarez Willis). So it appears as though the NCAA may be denying all of the players who transferred to DI schools a chance to play this year. So even though it stinks and the NCAA is run by clowns, it appears as though they are being consistent with Texas Tech transfers.
  9. Seems pretty status quo for this whole conference reshuffling mess. Deny, Deny, Deny, and then the announcement to move to a new conference, or in this case, back to it's old conference, is made.
  10. It sounds as if the ACC may be going after the Big East members such as UConn and even possibly Georgetown. There's also rumors that SDSU may back out of the Big East which means Boise State would also. What a cluster#$&^.
  11. There are actually rumors that B1G are also going after UNC and Georgia Tech. If that's true, You may as well say good bye to the ACC. FSU and Clemson are trying to get into the SEC. It's looking more and more like the four 16 team conferences will become a reality with the four super conferences being B1G, SEC, PAC 16, and Big 12 (6). It will be interesting to see what Texas and Oklahoma do. If they stay in the Big 12, then that conference would survive. If they go to the Pac 12, then perhaps the ACC or Big East combine and survive.
  12. So now that the season is done, how did everyone do? I finished tied for 4th with 70 points, three behind the winners. If I hadn't been such a homer and picked UND in every game, including the SDSU game, I could have perhaps moved up a few spots. Not sure how many posters on here participated, but I enjoyed it and it helped keep me interested and following the conference a bit closer.
  13. I would recommend getting them now if you can. The only way tics become available for a "good" price later is if the gophs don't make it or UND for that matter. You also have to take into account that this is the last WCHA Final Five ever. IMO, it will be a tough ticket this year...I have been there a few times before and it is an amazing time!

    Fire Muss

I should clarify my last comment a bit. I'm sure Mussman makes the decision. I would suspect that Faison will meet with Muss to discuss how the year went and what Muss plans to do heading into next year. If Muss plans to keep things status quo, then Faison needs to make a decision on whether or not Muss is the right guy. If Muss plans to shake things up, I'm guessing he gets another year.

I suspect Muss (unfortunately) will be back for one more year. If no changes are made on the defensive side of the ball, then I will have lost faith in Faison and his vision for the football program.

    Fire Muss

In addition to having the 10-1 season prior to his 6-5 and 3-8 season, he also had a couple of fbs wins under his belt. What does Mussman have? A GWFC championship? He also has a loss to an NAIA school and one of the worst defenses in the history of UND.

The only thing I will disagree on is the one competent head coach. I believe we have at least two...Hakstol and Hardee. The jury is still out on Brewster.
  18. Another close game in set 2. UND started the set a bit slow but was able to turn it around. This time they took the lead late and were able to close it out 27-25 to even the match at 1-1. Unfortunately I won't be able to watch the rest of the match since, ironically enough, I'm going to go play some volleyball.
  19. The girls came out looking good in the first set. Back and forth the whole set until the end. NAU ended on a 4-0 run to take it 25-23.
  20. If anyone is interested and has DirecTv, the match against NAU is on channel 695 which is Fox Sports Arizona. Not sure about Dish tv. Pretty small crowd on hand.
  21. Agree with everything you say except the five spot. I know Wilmer isn't a great player by any means but he does have much needed size. He's someone who can spell Brekke and hopefully give us some quality minutes down low. He's not a great shooter, but hopefully he gets fouled when he has the ball down low because he's a decent free throw shooter. Against the K-State big men he did ok but I will be expecting him to do better in conference games and against other mid-major teams.
  22. I like the idea of a barrel...simple, easy, the "Battle for the Bakken Barrel" rolls off the tongue nicely...
  23. Unless you're referring to next years Big Sky tournament, the ladies will be heading to Greeley for this years tourney. The Big Sky champion from the previous year is the host for the current year's tourney. Great win by UND tonight! Hopefully they are beginning to play their best ball of the season just in time for the tourney.
  24. I have two tix for the game that I will give to a UND Football fan. PM me if interested...

I agreed our run defense was better last year, hard not to be. We did lose a few good players, but the schedule has also been a step up (even if you look at DI opponents only). Last years schedule allowed for "breaks" when playing down a level. It allowed time for the team to heal up a bit and prepare for the next DI team on the schedule. There are no breaks in the schedule this year. The team simply isn't deep enough on the defensive side of the ball.
