    Well Nodaks means all North Dakotans...even those that go to other universities in the state. So how is that unique to UND again??

    Not sure if this was aimed at me, but as Rough Rider voter, I'd be fine with Nodaks, and as much as I dislike it, Fighting Hawks...as long as the initial voting rules were still in tact. I definitely don't like that they are allowing three in the final vote as that will most likely result in the winner having less than 50% of interested voters.

    I don't know that Kelly endorses Nodaks. I'm guessing he prefers Fighting Hawks...since it's the only true PC name left.

    Man this quote function is really difficult. I had a co-worker tell me why she was hoping Fighting Hawks would win. Reason number one: This logo. Reason number two: Fans could shout Fighting Sioux, when Announcer says Fighting Hawks. I feel that she is not the only one of that opinion...

    If Roughriders would've finished third and Nodaks second, my opinion would've been the same. Runoff between the top two. I voted for Roughriders by the way.

    If somehow the students can be informed that some variation of Hawk is exactly what the consultants recommended and that Kelley is most likely hoping will be selected, it may change a few of their minds.

    To me, the saddest part of this whole nickname fiasco is that the students are giving Dr. Kelley the exact thing he was hoping for in choosing a new nickname. Maybe it (Fighting Hawks) was his second choice behind Sundogs. Regardless, how crazy is it that in the end, a majority of voters, including students, are giving Kelley what he and the consultants wanted, a safe generic name.

    Had it beaten out Rough Riders and came in second, I would've voted for it in the runoff.

    Yep, and it virtually means FH will be the new name...which is unfortunate.

    The UND band was there but I only saw a handful of people in UND gear. If you ever get the chance to go and see a game in Missoula, do it. It's a great game day experience.

    I have posted that definition, as have others. If Roughriders wins, UND can play both angles, thus many more opportunities for marketing, alternate logos, etc.

    I believe it will come down to Roughriders and Nodaks. Nodaks is the only name left that has had any kind of "organized movement." Having Brad Berry and the hockey teams come out in favor of it, will definitely give it steam. IF Nodaks does win, I would hope that they would add Fighting to it. Without the fighting, it's lame. With the "fighting" it's tolerable.

    Our announcers do when the welcome the teams to the ice/field/arena, etc. "Here comes your University of North Dakota....

    I cast my vote and helped a friend (Alum) to cast his vote, which are now reflected in the exit poll.

    I think you mean wait until the next book comes out. There's already one called "The Sioux Were Silenced." I was given a copy but have have yet to read it.

    Better than NoDaks, not as good as Roughriders. Fighting Hawks is a distant second in my order of preference.

    This quote feature needs some work...Was trying to quote Goon on his "NoDaks scoring" post. Anyway, how about at the beginning of games when the announcer says, "Here comes your University of North Dakota...NoDaks?!? Or, "Here comes your University of North Dakota Roughriders!" Rolls off the tongue much better and just "fits" imo.

    Agree that Rough Riders doesn't have to have a tie into Roosevelt. Look up the definition of a Rough Rider and the first definition is "a person who can break in or ride unbroken horses." As for the "alliteration" test, the University of North Dakota Rough Riders works the best, imo. And as many have mentioned, there are numerous options to come up with a unique logo...

    If UND wants to have success going forward, we are going to need to learn to protect the ball. It's crazy how many times we put the ball on the ground due to fumbling. Good teams are going to make us pay for those mistakes.

    thanks for the correction. I was under the impression that their first store was in GF...or maybe that the Scheel's family was from GF at some point.

    Things are far from turned around, but they are heading in the right direction...slowly but surely. The NDSU game served it's purpose as a barometer to show what our program needs in order to get back to being a playoff team. Will that happen this year? Probably not, but Bubba has the program trending in the right direction.
