Yep, sure was. Just clarifying for Sicatoka that the fence wasn't put up due to it being a beer garden. I think the fence was probably up to allow flow of traffic on the sidewalks. Although I'm not sure it helped too much in that regard.

There were many “kids” as in 7-10 year olds that were inside of the fence...at all times of the show. I stood next to a 7 or 8 year old, in the front row, for most of the Hairball show. Kid new the bands and the words to most of the songs. Rock will never die! Point of the post is, the cops/security were allowing people under 21 into the “fenced off area.”

To start the O-linemen, how about Michael Coe? He only played for a year though...I believe.

Brick and Barley announced another concert for June 9th. This one will be in the area/alley behind the restaurant with 32 Below playing. Not sure if it's free or not. Also not sure how much space is back there. Either way, it looks like Brick and Barley is going to be looking to offer regular outdoor entertainment options, as long as they people attend.

I’m curious about this project as well. I can only imagine how worked up the “Save Arbor Park” people will get if that project falls through.
-
I went and had a great time. I knew there would be a lot of people but didn’t know there’d be close to 10k. Sounds like they plan to make it an annual event and are working to find more space for next year.

Not sure if it’s still like it used to be at the Kohl Center in the late 90s early 2000s or not, but their student section knew how to have fun. I also wish they would’ve put the students behind the goalie. As for the suites, take out the last couple rows on top so the people in the suites can still see.

I’m sure all the best truck traffic doesn’t help either. You would think the city would have certain routes the Beet trucks can drive on. For example, cross the river at the Kennedy Bridge and Point Bridge only. Keep the trucks away from downtown. Bit there doesn’t seem to be any plan in place and truck can go almost anywhere (other than residential maybe.)

Fun show at the Fritz last night with Foreigner. I know there’s only one original member still with the group, but they sounded really good with the orchestra helping out. Seemed to be good attendance with about 2/3 of the seats sold from my guesstimate. As a tie in, there’s an article in the Herald that mentions the Alerus is projected to turn a profit this year. Spectra, who took over managing the Al, is doing some good things. Hopefully that trend continues. They did quite a bit of advertising for the Foreigner show which was a bit surprising. Does anyone know what the relationship is between Spectra and the Chester Fritz? Here’s the article on The Al: http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/government-and-politics/4426683-after-deficit-year-alerus-center-poised-make-profit

Ummm, sure...what day is it today?

In order to do that they would have to add/bring back a women’s sport or cut another men’s sport for Title IX. I don’t see UND bringing back baseball anytime soon.
-
Although he isn’t playing much, he sure seems to be enjoying the experience. And I say, good for him. Glad it’s been a good move. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/basketball/4420864-former-und-center-enjoying-sweet-16-loyola-chicago

I would hate for the Chester Fritz to be tore down. I believe it's a huge asset to UND and the community. Sure it needs some work done. I'd rather see money going to refurbish it and make it more modern vs. tearing it down and building a new one. I tend to go to one or two events per year at the Fritz every year. Looking forward to the Foreigner show on April 2nd.

They didn’t just beat them, they smoked them...by 20 points. It was a fun and tough game to watch at the same time. Fun because of the way UMBC played and tough to watch because watching the #1 seed overall fall apart like Virginia, did all while they were knowingly making “history” with the loss.

SDSU giving Ohio St. all they can handle. just out of curiosity, would UND be eligible for any of the NCAA money from the Summit should SDSU win? I’m guessing the answer is no.
-
So does President Kennedy. In all seriousness, I hope that is the case. UND has a good thing going with their VB program and hopefully Coach Pryor is around for awhile and takes the program to the level where they can win a match in the NCAA.
-
So, anyone hear anything on an extension for Pryor? Sure would hate to lose him.

#8 UND (12-19) vs #1 Griz (23-7) BSC Quarters 3/8 2:05 PM

Nice write up! And that must be one heck of a buzzer beater by Geno if it counts for 12 points and UND wins by 11. -
Exactly, I’m surprised EGF/GF don’t do more to force the trucks to use Gateway.

According to the article, Avants injured his groin. Also states Seales was having back issues. Hopefully they are feeling better with the day off between games. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/basketball/4413865-hawks-pull-stunner-rally-19-point-deficit-final-10-minutes-advance-big-sky -
It appears as thought the Winnipeg skating rinks, trails, etc on the Red River at the Forks has had a record breaking year. https://www.google.com/amp/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4561728 This is what the group that tried setting up the Freezeway should be looking to emulate here. Use the area between the Sorlie and Point bridge. Have hockey rinks, skating trail, sledding area, warming houses etc. if it takes off, then think about expanding a longer freezeway. Just my 2 cents.
-
Exactly. Rope off/flag an area of the river and use it for whatever. The river is an under utilized amenity. It won’t ever become a recreational river like the Missouri River in Bismarck, but there are still opportunities GF could take advantage of.
-
The freezeway is a whole other story. To me, they have a huge freezeway with the river. Just groom a nice path on there once the ice is thick enough instead of trying to turn the greenway into a "freezeway." Also, they had all types of issues with setting up the freezeway. It ended up breaking and spilling the water all over the bike paths, which in turn became a skating rink themselves. Huge waste of money in my opininon.
-
Not to get into the debate about the curb cut outs because I agree that they probably aren’t needed downtown. But as someone who uses the greenway, year round, you might be surprised as to how much use it gets by bicycle riders, walkers, skier's and runners in the winters. I run in the early morning and often am not the only person out there. Also see plenty of footprints/bike tracks after newly fallen snow. Both GF and especially EGF do a great job of keeping the bike paths clear during the winter, which is much appreciated.
