If you sit in that first row, I'd say that makes a fight pretty possible if the Dogs manage to score against the Sioux. The DECC is a very very old building with good atmosphere, kind of like the old Ralph I guess. Maybe the dogs will beat the sioux once this year, we will have to see.

I think UND will be fine this year. The previous posts have shown how good the incoming class is. With Parise and Bochenski leaving, doors have opened for other players to step up. Blais will be missed, but Hakstol should be a solid replacement. It should be an exciting season, and yes, I am excited for it to begin.

Sounds like a fun place. Grand Forks seems to be growing. There is quite a bit of development around the Ralph. Another good place to eat in GF is "jimmyjohns". A sub shop with less bread and more meat. This is a chain like Culvers and Cold Stone that is common in the cities area, but rare in ND.

I saw that, I thought it was pretty funny. It is the honest truth though...

At my house also, college hockey gets more exposure than the NHL. I am not just talking about Sioux hockey either. I have a dish so I get other games, mainly east coast, and like watching them more than a random NHL game. College seems much more exciting to me. To answer the original question: I don't see ESPN picking up many college games. Poker or bowling sadly would get better ratings. It would be great if I was wrong and we could watch games on ESPN or at least ESPN2!

Crosby is very much for real. You will be able to see him play in the World Junior Championships in Grand Forks this winter.

If Crosby played College hockey, he would have chosen UND like most of the other premiere SSM players. He opted for the higher competition of Major Juniors in his home country.

Here I am giving advice about GF and I have been away for 2 years now...where do all the college kids hang out now??? I always made the trip to the Down Under on Fridays for 1.50 pitchers and went to the Edge. I have heard the Edge is closed and will be named something new and changed.

If you are a golfer and the course is still open in October, I'd check out the Arnold Palmer signature course on the south end of town. It is called "Kings Walk". There could be snow then, and I'm not sure when it closes like I said....

This would be interesting...except there won't be an NHL season this year. The deadline is tomorrow night at 11 p.m. It's a shame we won't be able to watch the Parise and Bochenski this year. I can't wait for college hockey though!

I actually recommend going to theralph.com and their "ticket exchange". There are always tickets there, but be prepared to pay more than face for that series, unless you get lucky.

How about a sportsbar right by the arena? Mankato has several bars within walking distance of the arena, including a Buffalo Wild Wings. You'd think a bar right by campus would do great during the school year/hockey year. Has anyone thought of this? You'd think if it were viable, it would have already been done. I know the "23" restaurant is being built, maybe this will be enough, but upscale isn't for everyone. Personally, before and after a hockey game I'd like a place like BWW where I can mingle with my fellow knucklehead hockey fans.

Saw the gophers had trouble with a I-AA team expected to finish in the middle of their conference today. I would say they will be out of the top 25.

Try THOUSANDS. Are we going to have to listen to the opponent's broadcast team? I agree everyone who utilizes the audio broadcasts to email Tim O'Keefe and Roger Thomas and indicate how important it is to keep alumni and fans up to speed with the university. In this day of the internet, a Sioux fan should be able to listen to the game anywhere in the world.
