  1. What is the best place to watch a game as a Sioux fan on the road? Are there any "rough" crowds where you have received a beer shower or other similar event? I have only been to Mankato and the Xcel, they were both good places. Mankato seemed like a home game at times being the Mav's fans were so quiet during their beating. I have heard Duluth is fun but they get mean at times. Will I be arrested or denied admittance in St. Cloud when I walk in the National Concrete Center with my Sioux jersey on? Thanks for the info.
  2. They actually dropped the rule that you have to be enrolled in school. Because of this, the Sioux expect to contend for the Division II title with many ex-NFlers on their roster. Mike Ditka is said to be coming to the Sioux...to play defense, which is why he will not be running for senator in Illinois. Robert Smith, fresh off his new book is said to be bored and is toying around with playing for the Sioux as well...if he does well in walk on tryouts.
  3. Wow, the Sioux are going to be a very loaded team this year. Scary for everyone else, good for us. We should all quit talking about Fournier, he is not worth our time here at the University of North Dakota.
  4. Devils trade up to get Zajac. The Devils love those Fighting Sioux kids! Two first rounders for the Sioux. Congrats to Drew Stafford and Travis Zajac.
  5. Grand Forks the armpit??? Minneapolis isn't the best place in the world, whether you are getting shot up in North MSP, or stuck in traffic for hours anywhere else, it is not a very desirable place to live. The twin cities is basically a bunch of cities like Grand Forks lined up one after the other anyway! I love how people in the Cities think they are "above" people in Grand Forks, Duluth and St. Cloud because they happen to be from a bigger city. I hate Shaquille O'Neal, but he said it best "The only good thing to come out of Minneapolis is Prince". It seems some Gopher fans use the "big city" approach for ammunition when dealing with the Sioux because it is all they have. Forget about the city, look at the facts: The Fighting Sioux are one of the best programs in the nation. Herb Brooks said it best: If you want to make it to the NHL, go to North Dakota. I will stop now. Thanks
  6. Sandelin for the UND job!
  7. WISHES UND WOULD OFFER HIM THE JOB!
  8. If you were Dean would you leave Grand Forks for Columbus??? I sure wouldn't with all the stuff he gets at UND. His salary, car, retirement benefits, etc. He would be dumb to leave and pull his kids out of school. If he does leave, I agree that Bulldogs fans should be very nervous.
  9. This is a perfect example of how the general public is unaware of the vast availability for certain UND games. As a season ticket holder, I have seen many nights that there are a thousand or more empty seats in the Ralph, namely when the students are gone. If UND did a better job of publicizing the availability of tickets, there wouldn't be an empty seat left. Most people just assume all games are sold out. I don't have any advice for the person posting except to bug the UND ticket people. Dan Nerby is someone to ask for. He is not a good person for the job, in my opinion.
  10. Do you really think two upper level tickets for the Vikings against ANYONE at the concrete/plasticdome would be worth trading Sioux tickets against the gophers? I am one who says no. I'll take the Sioux over my Vikings any day.
  11. I will sell you mine for $1000 a seat each night.
  12. Interesting post. SCREW THE GOPHERS!!!!! haahahahahahahahha! Just haven't said that for a few months. GO SIOUX!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I received the issue also, the same day I posted about O'Keefe eating crow, the issue reminded me of what he said. The picture reminded me of how in the past a great General or Leader would have their portrait painted with their hunting dog. O' Keefe seems to be extremely arrogant and the picture didn't surprise me. Maybe I'm reading into it too much...
  14. When the Sioux lost to Denver...Mr. O'Keefe guaranteed the winner of the Gopher Duluth game would be in the title game...insinuating Denver was no good. The comment was made when he was in an emotional state...but he has made comments like this one before. Just thought I'd bring it up. Good job by Denver! They came out of nowhere!
  15. The rumor is that Riza stole a teammate's credit card and used it...is this accurate???
  16. I also get quite a kick out of Sid being everyone's best friend. I don't trust any of his "inside tips". He really needs to retire. His son Chad isn't bad though.
  17. From Grandpa Sid's Thursday column, if anyone cares... "Keith Ballard, the star defenseman who has another year of eligibility with the Gophers men's hockey team, said he hasn't decided if he will return for his senior year. Ballard's NHL rights are held by the Phoenix Coyotes, who haven't made a contract offer. . . . Gophers coaches are convinced forward Thomas Vanek, a first-round draft choice of Buffalo last year, definitely will not return for his junior season."
  18. I'll sell you my 2003 UND green road jersey that has seen many Sioux games and had ME sweat in it, as well has had beer spilled on it. Priceless!!! But I'll sell it to you for I'd say...about three fitty!
  19. If he is in fact number 17, my picture to the left is pretty sweet. If not.... How about this: His brother is number 1, his dad was number 7. What is better than a hybrid of the two?
  20. When he does get a number...I want to get his jersey! I would imagine stores in GF will have it. Unfortuately I don't live in GF anymore. I might have to order from the Devils website...anyone have info on Parise jerseys???
  21. I have been watching the Sioux since 1986. It is so hard to compare players from different decades like Troy Murray, Bobby Joyce, Hrkac, Steve Johnson, Greg Johnson, Jeff Panzer, Jason Blake, Ed Belfour, Jon Casey....the list goes on and on and on. I think some of the players mentioned above had better college careers, but Parise may have the most successful NHL career of any Sioux player. We will have to wait and see. He has all the tools to become a great NHLer, maybe a superstar.
  22. I think the same of Briggs I did watching him in the Final Five: A shaky goalie who has an unorthodox style that gets him in trouble...but to give the kid a break, he is only a freshman.
  23. To end all of this talk about Hale...are there any NJ fans out there who can tell us all who the Enforcer(s) are on the team? Hale was probably mentioned due to not knowing the roster well. The point about getting your butt kicked by whomever is the important fact here.
  24. In the NHL, Zach will be clutched and grabbed and etc. BUT, the sticks don't get up as high in the NHL. This is due to the fact there are no facemasks and if you DO get sticks up, you get your A$$ handed to you by the guy you high stick, or by the team GOON(S). Except for a few well noted cases, there is more respect in the NHL. Add in the fact he will be making millions to deal with the abuse, and you may further understand why the college game just didn't make sense for him anymore.
  25. Congrats to Zach. I would have done the same thing. We all saw him get mugged and held and speared and slashed all season long in the WCHA. Why stick around and deal with that crap when you can make money in the NHL and not be assaulted on a nightly basis? I plan on purchasing a devil jersey with "Parise" on the back. GOOD LUCK IN THE NHL ZACH!!!
