  1. As an alum and local school administrator, I'll let you know that there are school visits set up with the UND Campus. They do reach out and many admins and school counselors set them up. We have one scheduled next week with our Jr's and Sr's. The FB coaches stop by almost every school in the state during the course of the year to "check in" and talk to alumni and coaches about players. Haven't seen any basketball coaches in my years of being an administrator.
  2. I've listened to the whole "inbreeding" comments from you and others over a long time and I'll add my two cents, take it for what it's worth. When you take a job, do you hope for a promotion to a better position within that job? If you start as a cashier, do you not hope and work hard enough to earn a promotion? Why should coaching be any different? If you get hired as a graduate assistant, wouldn't you hope to work hard enough to be hired as a full time coach? Goodness sake, in your world no one moves up the ladder of success, especially if you're from within the program. Think you need to change your tag line - you sir are not a "fan". I get that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but yours doesn't change. If not happy, move on. Again, my two cents and it may not be worth it..... or help the cause...
  3. If your name is Coach Prime it is.....

    FCS Playoffs

Not sure if this was posted already or not, but makes my head hurt. https://406mtsports.com/college/big-sky-conference/university-of-montana/what-montana-schools-bid-to-host-fcs-playoff-games/article_887f688a-70ff-11ed-ab83-afd8001716aa.html?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_406_Sports&fbclid=IwAR398sTXgXJCz_D1euW8YJbzLF-21kSA3QTHnNS_spgRlEGUf9Ged4zgHGo
  5. Was a conservative approach this spring. Talked to many, including Trainers who were glad it was "toned" down. Half of the O-Line were in shorts and jerseys and were banged up. Didn't do any real "live" hitting as stated as being cautious avoiding injuries and staying healthy. Work on fundamentals and get better and stay/get healthy. Tommy looked alright, Feeney looked better. Feeney has more zip on his ball (from what I noticed) and was willing to take a chance at some throws. Wr's looked good, RB's did fine and made some nice plays. DL looked a bit under sized, but they were quick to the ball. As far as facility, I believe there were prospective recruits there as they had name badges at check in for high school kids. Showcase your facility! Also, did a games and autograph session with little kids (good PR move) and it is much easier to access field in there versus the Alerus.
  6. Bubba extended through 2025 season. Schweigert Inks Extension Through 2025 Season - University of North Dakota Athletics (fightinghawks.com)
  7. No offense taken, I was responding more to jdub asking why there was outrage. I don't care what he makes (within reason) as long as he is doing his job. I was just pointing something out after a small discussion on Chaves and his leadership (or lack thereof) in regards to football (depending on your take).
  8. No outrage about salary, was just following up on some older posts about lack of involvement by AD with Football.
  9. Don't remember where the conversation was about the current AD (Chaves), but saw yesterday that they signed him to a 4 year extension, through spring of 2026. Base salary of $221,150.

    UND @ ISU

We are on, but no sound?
  11. How about: Blair or Joe Sabrina, Jill, or Kelly
  12. I thought Bubba handled it well. Promoted the next kid in line as was excited for that kids opportunity. No mention of the "ones name who we shall not name".
  13. The group I listed were late 80's - early 90's. We have had some good ones in the past, and hope that we have some good ones in the future as Canada has many players that can play! I do not like this transfer portal and especially do not like athletes quitting on their team during the season (yes I know it is spring, but still). I would assume that the scholarship is over immediately?
  14. Lorin McCasin, Neville Scarlett, Kevin Robson, Paul Sedin, Tim Prinsen, Dallas Rysaavy, Darcy Dahlem- all from canada and stuck it out.
  15. Could you take an offensive lineman and insert him at Nose? Probably... Would it be successful? it could... But from experience, I will say that they are two different mindsets, and two distinctly different skill sets. Our nose position is the only position on the D-line that has two gap responsibility. They are also involved with many different games/twists on the line. Taking someone and giving them 3 practices at the nose position before a game may make them somewhat serviceable, but I'm not overly sure they would be effective.
  16. After looking at these helmets, I would kind of like to see a white throwback helmet for a game. Thoughts?
  17. I agree. I really like this site for keeping up with UND Football. With that being said, we have people on here that take pot shots at players, and coaches, and now we are blasting a coach because he walks like he's 90 years old. The guy had hip replacement surgery. I'm sure we would all be up running a marathon in a few weeks, right. None of us are perfect... Should we strive to be, I would hope so. But reality is, we can't. Do we have an uphill battle with the boys south of us, yes. But I think we are closing the gap. Bubba has assembled a good core of coaches. Also, keep in mind that they have recruited 'good' kids to the program. We don't have as many issues as other programs do. (Thankfully). We also had something like 14 fb guys with perfect 4.0 GPA, and over half of the team had a 3.0 GPA or higher. Getting good kids who want to excel at academics to a university is a plus. Lastly, Bubba, his staff, and his players are good for UND as a whole. They are good people, who root for the university. Go watch a home BB game and see the staff and players supporting the other UND teams. We all want to win a championship, and I think we are getting closer. Going on a website and taking shots at kids and coaches doesn't help build a program. Be respectful.
  18. How do we know that Dosch was interested? Maybe a call was made and interest wasn't expressed. Just speculating like everyone else.
  19. YES! Exactly what I was referencing! Figured I was too old for many to remember that!!!
  20. So Danny doing well this year is what? According to your logic, Danny shouldn't have been considered because he worked under Rudy, and god know how many on here called for Rudy's firing because he was doing so well..... Can't we have a positive attitude that Coach H will bring some refreshing and new ideas to our 3-4 scheme, and maybe do as well or better than the last DC? Give the guy a chance, then pass judgement. Maybe he's a diamond in the rough, just like Danny was. Everyone needs to stop with all the "negative waves"!
  21. So, if you work hard at your job, and a management position in your office opens up, you shouldn't be hired if you're qualified and can fill the position, just because you already work in that office? All jobs should be hired externally? What motivation does that give anyone working toward wanting to move up the ladder? C'mon people... I listen and think that for some of you, nothing is good enough.... Fire Bubba. Freund won't be able to do it. Fire the strength coach. Fire the special teams coach. I will say that there is always room for improvement, but I don't think that anybody in the UND FB program is just sitting on their ass collecting a paycheck and that they want to just be a 6-5 team each year. There are things hindering our program, and the majority of them start with $$$$. Higher coaches salaries, and HPC part 2 would be two big ticket items that could help our program. I personally like someone that has some familiarity with the program. There are many alumni who bleed green and feel connected with that familiarity. The pluses with this hire are that you have someone with some experience as a DC. You have someone familiar with the program and the players. You have someone familiar with the recruits (this is a big one for me as I hope to keep all the recruits that we signed and hope they don't jump ship because a coach left (see our qb recruit)). As it stands, I will support Brett and hope that we make a splash in Missouri Valley. No one is expecting us to come in and be a top dog and I'm fine with that. Let's prove them wrong. It will be a tough conference to play in, but I think that we can compete. With success at recruiting, some tweaking of some of the intangibles, and hard work, we can find success in the mighty Missouri Valley. Rant done.
  22. I believe it would have been around the 1990 or 1991 seasons. Some us where there to take up blocks for LB's to make the tackles....
  23. Does he sell a caffeine powder with his book and testimonial?
  24. Keep in mind that MVC will include teams that are a closer distance than the Big Sky opponents. This may make it easier for fans traveling to UND home games from these rival schools to attend the game. This equals more revenue for the Alerus. I agree 100% to move the students away from the 50 yard line. Looking at the student section last week was horrible. There were maybe 200 students there. They could have fit all the students in the first two rows. I purchase tickets to attend on an individual basis or buy from friends that aren't going to the game. If I could purchase season tickets between the 40's and on the lower deck I would. It doesn't make sense to purchase season tickets on the 10 yard line, upper deck right now. Although I could get them and then go sit in the student section, there are plenty of seats there!
  25. Maybe we need something like this? Fans and Alerus Crew would need to be on board. And Metallica!
