Odd, on Coach's Corner last night Cherry was all caught up in a protective flexible cover that goes on the dasher edge, and how it will really help avoid injuries. Shows footage of a number of nasty hits where the players face gets smashed into that edge causing some nasty cuts (Draper one of them). Looks like a great product, but why is the NHL going to great lenghts to protect players faces and eyes by coating the rink in protective coverings, but refuses to require full masks or shields of their players. The tough guy image only goes so far, especially when it gets to eye injuries.

That's the truth. With a little spare time this weekend (raining out), I responded. Back to ignore mode for these two.

May be a part of the explanation, sagard, but the gophs looked totally disinterested in the HC game (as they did in the third place game vs. Wisco). HC looked twice as fast at both forward and defense. Gophers appeared to be a very flat team with no interest. Perhaps they were looking ahead to the championship game. Pre-tourney goph fans made a big deal out of Sioux fans overlooking Michigan. One wonders who overlooked whom? At any rate the Badgers can thank the Gophers for a disinterested performance in the third place game, giving them an easy win and sending them on the the NCAA championship.

So when TJ wants to "play through", is everyone ahead of him left lying in the rough?

Not sure of their draft status, but the early 80s Gino teams had many frosh/soph leave early, but those teams also had some very good role playing upper classmen. And, the early departing players all left with an NCAA championship. The Sioux will have to win with highly skilled underclassman and a few, very few upper classmen. There are other teams in the same boat. Hit a year with frosh forwards equal to last year's along with the experienced D of two years ago and they probably win the NCAAs. One positive, with so many leaving early, the classes may start to become more balanced, and we won't have those 10+ sized freshmen classes.
