  2. OK, there are 23 players on the team and 18 of them played college hockey. I see no anti-NCAA bias there. And the team was being picked by Northern Michigan alum Don Waddell and Minnesota alum Paul Holmgren.
  3. Congrats to the finest Sioux ever to transfer from Ferris State on getting to wear the red, white and blue in Torino. Anybody know if Jason Blake is the first Sioux to play for the Americans in the Olympics since Dave Christian in 1980?
  4. It's official. Vanek signed with Buffalo. INCH had it up an hour ago. http://insidecollegehockey.com/7Archives/News/vanek_0252.htm
  5. One clarification: The media at the Final Five does not select the all-tournament team. It is selected by an unnamed panel of five people that votes via secret ballot and one person turns the results of the voting in to the WCHA officials at the end of the last game. When asked who was on the panel, the WCHA officials questioned after the game did not know who had done the actual voting. Several members of the media complained about this, and there may be a change in the way the all-tournament team is selected in the future. And in one hockey-watcher's opinion, this would have been a better and more deserving all-tourney team: F - Parise F - Irmen F - Schwabe D - Ballard D - Jones G - King MVP - Irmen
  6. Here's why the state should and must be involved with a new arena project in Duluth: UMD is a campus in the University of Minnesota system (along with Crookston, Twin Cities and Morris). In the past decade, the regents of that system have built (using university and state money) state-of-the-art new hockey facilities for men's and women's hockey at the Twin Cities campus, while allowing UMD to continue playing in an off-campus convention center that was built in 1966. At the same time, they've expected UMD's hockey teams to recruit and compete at the same level, in the same conference, as the Gophers. That's wrong, and a new arena would be a step toward making it right.
  7. "That's understandable considering who the owners are." -- siox fan in phoenix The owners of INCH are a St. Thomas/Denver alum living in Michigan and a Princeton alum living in DC. If that doesn't spell "Gopher bias" what does!?!?!
