  1. for those concerned about how many players drafted and where you have to look at what players are coming in and what players will still be in juniors. remember a few of the players for this years class were drafted last season. thats usually how it worisk anyhow unless you are a toews, oshie ect.....coming in straight from hs or prep school and it takes a hell of a player to do that to begin with. this may be one of the most blanaced teams coming in we have had in years, we will see. the only big suprise is mattson not drafted after getting a combine invite. very rare i believe. not sure what happened there. next year we could have 2 first rounders. we will see how it plays out but i wouldnt be high or low in regards to draft status as their are teams that have had multiple 1st rounders including the sioux that couldnt close the deal in the end. takes a lot more than that as we all know
  2. derek forbort and possibly nick mattson
  3. only 3/4 years late
  4. im guessing and its all about money right now and how much various things will cost or not cost omaha
  5. he meant where the kids get drafted to. not where they are from as calgary seems to not be high on the college scene and garths situation plucking okposo out of minny mid year
  6. hf top 11 minny kids 3. Danny Mattson, C Academy of Holy Angels Ht./Wt.: 5
  7. like you say, you have to trust the coaches. its a numbers game as well with the forwards that are coming in as we know. i dont think it was about cracking the lineup but overall they see him as a 3-4 year player either way and a year to get more stronger which he needs is the key. he and mattson will be big time imnpact players in 2010. book it just like kristo and cichy will be this season with their juniors experience
  8. yeah depends on their age. usually it seems players arent drafted after being passed up their 1st draft year but cichy will be the exception to that after getting passed last year which i still dont get but oh well. ide say rodwell and maybe rowney get draft out of the 4 not ranked. maybe
  9. nice, yeah will be interesting where they go. also couldnt rodwell be a suprise late rounder?? i think ive read that a few places. ill guess cichy, mattson and knight all go late 2nd to 4th round and then rodwell a 5-7 guy if drafted. all it takes is 1 team to like a specific player so i think its a crap shoot on these 3 and where they go late 2nd to 4th.
  10. per brad http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ Thrashers re-sign Rylan Kaip Take one free agent off of the market. The Atlanta Thrashers have re-signed former Sioux captain Rylan Kaip. Terms of the deal were not released by Atlanta. Kaip played with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League last season, tallying three points in 42 games. He was injured at the end of the season. Although he didn't put up big numbers, he still provided some physical edge for the Wolves. Kaip could play alongside Andrew Kozek this season. Kozek recently signed with Atlanta, too, and is expected to start his pro career in the AHL.
  11. good for him. hope he makes it and gets a chance!
  12. he is a commited recruit, not prospective great quote "The biggest thing is North Dakota is an unbelievable place," said Knight. "I had such a respect for the coaches when I met them and I trusted them. It will be something else to play in front of 12,000 people every night. Also, they've turned out a lot of players who turned pro -- Jonathan Toews and Zach Parise are pretty good NHL players. My dream is to play in the NHL so they've turned out some good hockey players there. That made it one of the best ways for me to go."
  13. which means nothing really
  14. and they could contribute on the scoreboard as well. like ive said before this team will be very balanced scoring wise with all lines. malone could be the guy to break out thbis season with how he finished last year as well
  15. i think we all knew this was just a matter of time but right away tj has made a name for himself in st louis! nice work tj and a hell of a rookie year! per brad http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ St. Louis Blues fans voted T.J. Oshie as their favorite player -- by a large margin. Oshie received 72.9 percent of the votes, which was considerably ahead of runner-up Keith Tkachuk's 7.1 percent. The write-up on the St. Louis site says: "The winner of the most popular player award shouldn't come as a shock at all. T.J. Oshie has been highly touted since he was drafted in 2005. Fans had to wait three full years to see Oshie skate as a pro, but when he arrived, he delivered. Oshie had 39 points in 57 games as a rookie and was a plus-16. Big hits and highlight-reel goals will make this 22-year-old one of the team's most popular players for years to come."
  16. thanks for the vanvoothis update. we will need another solid player with the VV initials after chris leaves
  17. nice first name as well to play for north dakota
  18. true, my bad on that. totally spaced it out that mattson, knight and rodwell will be in juniors. and yes 16 if forney comes back.
  19. just a observation from looking at the roster coming up and nhl draft numbers i would have to believe this will be the most nhl draft picks on 1 sioux team at once. i have the list from my website here and then also the guys who may and can get drafted this june. we have 14 players in or coming in drafted and 3 for sure draft picks in cichy, knight and mattson with rodwell a maybe. ust interesting to see as we all know it doesnt mean anything but just caught my eye 2005 NHL ENTRY DRAFT CHRIS VANDE VELDE (F) - 4TH RD (#97) EDMONTON OILERS 2006 NHL ENTRY DRAFT DERRICK LAPOINT (D) - 4TH RD (#116) FLORIDA PANTHERS 2007 NHL ENTRY DRAFT JASON GREGOIRE (F) - 3RD RD (#76) NEW YORK ISLANDERS MATT FRATTIN (F) - 4TH RD (#99) TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS BRAD MALONE (F) - 4TH RD (#105) COLORADO AVALANCHE BRETT BRUNETEAU (F) - 4TH RD (#108) WASHINGTON CAPITALS - 09' (released by capitols and now free agent) BEN BLOOD (D) - 4TH RD (#120) OTTAWA SENATORS BRAD EIDSNESS (G) - 5TH RD (#139) BUFFALO SABRES 2008 NHL ENTRY DRAFT DANNY KRISTO (F) - 2ND RD (#56) MONTREAL CANADIENS - 09' DAVID TOEWS (F) - 3RD RD (#66) NEY YORK ISLANDERS COREY FIENHAGE (D) - 3RD RD (#81) BUFFALO SABRES BRETT HEXTALL (F) - 6TH RD (#159) PHOENIX COYOTES ANDREW MACWILLIAM (D) - 7TH RD (#188) TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS - 09' JOE GLEASON (D) - 7TH RD (#192) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS- 09' 2009 NHL ENTRY DRAFT POTENTIALS CORBAN KNIGHT (F) DANNY MATTSON (F) MIKE CICHY (F) DEREK RODWELL (F)
  20. nothing as each company can make any style but if they wear the rbk edge then those are the same as the nhl jerseys they introduced last season or whenever they did. im sure the actual style and designs will be up to hak

    Blais

yeah we sure havent won it all which is a huge bummer especially after 4 straight years getting there you have to grab 1 but hell, at least they were there and fought hard to get there and us fans got to party. could be worse, they could have been home golfing like every team in the state of minnesota has been.

    Blais

    Blais to Omaha!!!
  23. yes they play other countries as warm up usually. not college teams. the sioux or any other college team can barley hold their own vs the wjt usa team, wouldnt wana see what the olympic team full of nhl'ers would do to colleges
  24. yeah that would be sweet! i think VV has a serious chance at a huge season. obviosuly health and linemates and other factors go into this but just one of those hunches after how he played to close out last seasons stretch. i see big things from VV
  25. not yet i just think this team is deep at forward all around...i guess i have no clue where he will be playing or where i see him. could be on the 2nd line come opening night for all we know or 4th. i do think he and kristo are gona be game changers over their careers with the sioux . i also think rowney will turn some heads as well. cant wait. at least we have the temp in the 90's here this week again andlast week. hell of a break from 110 everyday..i know, i know im complaining about the heat but its all on where you live
