SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play

without a doubt -
per brad Pierre-Paul Lamoureux joins UND There will be no Battle of the Lamoureuxs this year during the October exhibition. Pierre-Paul Lamoureux has traded in his University of Manitoba jersey for the green and white, like pretty much the rest of his family. Pierre-Paul won't be playing (he's not eligible because he played in the WHL), but he'll be a student-assistant for the men's team. After a few shoulder injuries, he decided it was time to quit playing competitively. Pierre-Paul has been around the rink this summer. The only family member who hasn't gone to UND will now be Jacques, who was a Hobey Baker finalist at Air Force last year.

hf oilers top 25 prospects - chorneys also #13 12 (8) Chris Vande Velde, C, 22 Acquired: 2005 draft, 97th overall Some players crumble under the pressure of newfound accountability. With North Dakota, Vande Velde was used as a bigger and bigger part of the team offense and season after season has fulfilled the larger demands. A meager start of three goals in 38 games his freshman year has metamorphosed into an 18-goal, 35-point season in 2008-09. He

per brad Chris Porter re-signs with St. Louis Former UND captain Chris Porter will stay with the St. Louis Blues. Porter inked a two-year deal reportedly worth a little more than $1.1 million with St. Louis -- the organization he's spent the last two seasons with. Porter split time with the Peoria Rivermen in the AHL and the Blues last season. He played six games for the Blues at the start of the season, scoring a goal and adding an assist. In 74 games with Peoria, the two-way forward had seven goals, 16 assists and 23 points. At UND, Porter gained a lot of notoriety for his Iron Man status -- he won the team's Iron Man award in dryland training for three years in a row, and also became the WCHA's all-time Iron Man by playing in all 175 college games. Ryan Duncan ended up tying that mark of 175 straight games last season and Chay Genoway will have a shot at tying his dryland mark this year. ***** Also of note, Lee Goren will now play this upcoming season for Tappara in Finland. Goren helped his Swedish Elite League team win a championship last season and had planned to go back there this year. But according to reports, he's going to Finland instead. ***** Perhaps Alexi Casilla's sudden power surge (he hit one off the baggie) on Tuesday came because he was trying to avoid sheer embarrassment from Zach Parise. The former UND forward took batting practice from Ron Gardenhire before Tuesday's game and nearly blasted one into the football seats. The Pioneer Press estimated that the lefty hit it 340 feet.

saying he could be the 7th guy isnt saying hes not a good player. he wouldnt be coming to und if he wasnt. he will be a very good player for the sioux, i just think it will take some time due to numbers and who we have right now. the guy can skate and move that pcuk

per brad Single-game ticket sale reminder Minnesota sent out a release today reminding fans that single-game men's hockey tickets go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. I know most of UND's alumns wind up in the Twin Cities, so this always is a hot ticket (not to mention other factors, like success of the programs and the rivalry). If you're interested in those tickets, go to www.gophersports.com to pick up tickets tomorrow morning. Also, UND's single-game tickets go on sale Sept. 12 at 10 a.m., so you still have some time there.

AZSIOUX replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in Men's Hockey
sioux will have a lot of feshman but look for 5 of them to play nightly in kristo, cichy, rowney, knight and macwilliam. dell getting starts as well in net but the others at first not playing much. big difference with half actualy playing nightly. now that oshie class was loaded with freshman and most played nightly the 05/06 had 13 freshman, 10 played nightly, wow!! -

gothberg to stay at trf gothberg Gothberg to stay at TRF Force first-round draft pick Zane Gothberg has told the team that he's going to return to Thief River Falls to play his senior season with the Prowlers. That leaves Cody Campbell as the only goaltender on the Force roster right now. Campbell was going to be the top dog this season anyway, but finding a backup for him has to be the No. 1 mission for the team right now. Any thoughts on who the Force should go out and get? If I were Steve Johnson I'd try and talk Matt Hemingway out of playing for Alexandria this winter. -
hf coyotes top 20 prospects 19. (NR) Brett Hextall, C - 6.0C 5'11, 188 pounds 6th round, 159th overall, 2008 April 2, 1988 The son of Ron Hextall, Brett quietly had a very productive freshman season with the University of North Dakota. Hextall plays a simple and direct game and makes plays with his speed. Hextall is a tireless worker and a relentless skater who has quickly developed a reputation as an agitator, who certainly isn't afraid to get hostile when he needs to. However, Hextall also turned heads with his ability to score regularly, as he put up 12 goals on the season and even saw power-play time. It appears Phoenix might have something with last year's sixth-round pick.
