  2. HF florida draft review Corban Knight, C 5th Round, 135th Overall The Panthers selected Knight with their first of two fifth-round picks. Knight spent the 2008-09 season as a member of the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL. He was one of six players from the league to be taken in 2009. With 34 goals and 38 assists, Knight led all league rookies in scoring by a considerable margin. League-wide, his 72 points were good enough to place him in a tie for eighth overall. A late bloomer, Knight is a good skater who will have another year of play in the AJHL to work on his strength and polish his offensive skills further. He has signed a letter of intent with the University of North Dakota for the 2010-11 season.

  6. per brad http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ Dixon Ward headed to UND's Hall UND just announced that forward Dixon Ward will be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in October. Ward is the sole member of UND's 100 goals, 100 assist club. He had 110 goals and 109 assists from 1988-92. He later went on to play in the NHL for Vancouver, Los Angeles, Toronto, Buffalo, Boston and the N.Y. Rangers.

  11. maybe not and 99% of players arent but he will be a hell of a player for the sioux. he and kristo will be special. i say look out for kristo to be a big time scorer in the wcha for a few years but both have nice freshman years notching 25-35 pointsd each. book it i love the fact that cichy and kristo have had very good success with team usa and in te ushl. thats a great sign heading into the wcha and the grind that it is

  13. HF canadiens draft review Michael Cichy, C -- Indiana (USHL) 7th round, 199th overall Ht: 5'11, Wt: 187, DOB: July 8, 1990 With 34 goals and 43 assists in 56 games last season, Cichy showed he could put the puck in the net. His superlative play went noticed by many, including the Habs' brass. "He's won almost every award possible in the USHL," Timmins said. "He was the playoffs' leading scorer and he's going to North Dakota, which is a good development school. In fact, he's going to be Danny Kristo's roommate." Weight may have been a factor in him getting overlooked, but Timmins added that there was no way that the club could overlook his innate ability to play the game. "He was a little light before gaining 30 pounds over the past two years," he said. "His skating's not perfect, but that's something he can develop -- especially with the hockey sense he has."
  14. side note, that player cut is one of brad millers best friends. there is a pic of those two back in georgia at their yough rink from when they played against each other while miller was with und and he was with st lawrence. brads dad runs that rink where its hanging
  15. im pretty sure you can only go to arbitration as a restricted free agent. you cant just go to arbitration anytime you feel like it
  16. HF devils draft review devils Derek Rodwell, LW -- Okotoks (AJHL) 5th pick, 5th round, 144th overall The Devils went off the board with their pick in the fifth round, selecting Rodwell out the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Okotoks Oilers. The 6'1, 190 lb left winger just completed his second year with the Oilers and improved his totals across the board, scoring 17 goals,12 assists and 69 PIM's in 41 games. Had he not missed time this season due to injury, his numbers likely would have been even better, as he spent most of the season playing on the Oilers second line. Rodwell is the type of player who often seems to be in the right spot at just the right time. He's not afraid to crash the net to pounce on loose pucks and rebounds, while creating havoc for opposing goaltenders. He enjoys the physical aspect of the game, but sometimes plays a little too reckless, something that he will learn to curb as he matures as a player. He is an above average skater who has good hands and also excels killing penalties. As he grows into his body and fills out his frame, Rodwell has the potential to emerge into a mid-tier power forward down the road. With his solid skating ability and fearlessness driving to the net, those are traits that should continue to serve him well in his final season with Okotoks. He has committed to the University of North Dakota for the 2010-11 season, a place that has been kind to the Devils in past drafts. A project type of pick, the Devils will need a few seasons before they really know what they are getting in Rodwell.
  17. not sioux related but this was obvious that something had to happen with their roster numbers.......... http://www.badgerbeat.com/news/article/id/457381 bardis out, hickey transfering and barnes delayed a year
  18. per brad http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ zajac and smaby to arbitration

    Ryan Hill

sounds like a good team guy which is always a plus. he knows his role right now as a recruited walk on and if or when he gets his chances im sure he will give it his all like he stated. the roster sizes in college hockey vary from team to team. DU has many players on their roster. its all about the diffeent coaches and their philosophy on having more practice players and or depth players as 3-4 players on big rosters know they wont see the ice for more than a few games each season. everyone usually knows their role and hill is in that category
  21. i believe thats for 2010
  22. of course they will this year and that should be it
  23. it doesnt sell out like it does or have half of attention if it goes away from st paul. it needs to be there for many reasons and i hope it stays there for a long time!
  24. and i agree, i wasnt countering what you were saying. i agree 100%. just was saying what some think is the reason you should win it all isnt having all blue chippers
  25. way different in many ways. hell michigan always has top round picks every year and they cant even get to the frozen 4, it took BU forever to get there again and they finally won one. its so different and either way works really but you need a mix of top end guys + role players. not just 20 blue chippers skatign around. it doesnt work that way in any sport
