Your question should be: Do you wanna sacrafice basketball and other teams for you football team (in IAA where it belongs) because those others sports have no serious risk of ever winning a championship like they do in D2. Okay maybe ndsu's estrogen, er, equestrian, or whatever it is.

Sort of like the contract between NDSU and the Forum (reported by Brandon Misener of d2football.com that two people he trusted had seen the contract) that contains agreements that the Forum write X amount of stories about NDSU (obviously not all athletic) which NDSU must approve.

You're finally starting to understand. Numbers can be manipulated. UND being in the "red" could just mean any number of different things. Like being truthful while others are not. SDSU was not any better financially when they went D1 than UND will be. UND is (trying) not to lead with their heart and emotions like SDSU did, but (like Kuppy said we might have to) when 3 of your conference mates leave within a few years it makes it harder on you and in a way "forces" you to move.

As true in basically everything in life.... Think Long Term!!! In the long term the short term don't matter. There is no reason to hurry the selection process. There is no reason to hurry a D1 move. No one will remember 20 years from now who moved first. 50 years from now no one will remember what the nickname use to be.

Part of the reason I see to schedule the IAA game is better prepare for the playoffs (if UND makes it). Playing Crookston and Mesa St. doesn't do that. UND needed a stronger nonconference game. I think the last couple of years some fans might have learned that.

So when you wrote You imply meant the AD called MN to see if they wanted a game? I am just saying in reality I highly doubt there was ever a realistic chance that would happen as a Division 2 team. See reasons as previously stated, whether Dale Lennon wanted to or not. Why are you so Bitter? It doesn't hurt that much playing a DIAA team anymore. The rules have changed. There was many reasons to schedule this game. Money being only one of them. Probably the least reason.

You just can never concede an argument can you? You wanted examples and two were given. You can't argue with that. You can't argue with they were both "good" football teams that year, as they both made the IAA playoffs. Whether or not a team has scholarships does not indicate how "good" they are. Maybe it shows the credibility of the teams in IAA playoff football. Back to the original point that you questioned. There has been D2 teams that have not only competed but beaten IAA playoff teams.

You could make subjective arguments for how "good" a team is all day.

What? I was giving an example of "competing" not "beating" like RD17 said.

Last year, Texas State (whom lost to U of Northern Iowa in the semis in OT) only beat Delta State 32 to 25 and had to score late to beat them. You probably want more examples now. Shouldn't you know more about this because your team is IAA?

My opinion is that having no nickname will be a bad thing for the university (if we get rid of Sioux).

You seem to know all, so which one was it? The fact is there was no way UND was going to end up on U of Minnesotas schedule because a DIA team playing a D2 team doesn't count towards the BCS. It would have essentially been an exhibition game for them....facts.
