  1. By law, North Dakota had to have the words "North Dakota" near the interlocked ND any time it was used. Thus, the law recognized that the mark, and recognition by the average observer, was for "Our Lady of South Bend" if North Dakota had to specify and clarify when it was using it. As I've already said, anecdotally, during the national championship game, while the ND with "North Dakota" on it (shoulder patch) was displayed on television, I had someone in a pub ask me who Notre Dame was playing. < facepalm >

    2016 Season

    Yup. Agree.
  3. * Then you throw JJ up with Boeser and Gardner (as I optioned). ** I had Hoff centering a fourth line because of his age (three USHL seasons) and experience at center. Most freshmen, even natural centers, don't play center right away. There are exceptions (see: Jost). And when a freshman is put out at center there's normally a defensively responsible winger with them.
  4. August 5, 2005. Over a decade. < stunned >
  5. I know folks are predicting Boeser and Jost together. Allow the resident contrarian to make a point: I recall the pure havoc and utter distress Boeser and Gardner together provided on a Saturday night to WMU (at K-zoo). I suspect something like: Gardner with Boeser and Wilkie. Jost with Gersich and Poganski. Simonson with Janatuinen and Bowen Hoff with Olson and Gornall (scratch: Yon, Smith) You can rotate Wilkie, Pogo, and JJ depending on what's working. Yon and Smith can be spotted in for Olson, Gornall, and Bowen to see what works. If there is a freshman (besides Jost) that can jump into the top six, all the better. It'll create a third line that is not only defensively responsible but very dangerous offensively.
  6. SiouxFan9: That water is already over the dam, under the bridge, and being drunk by a horse that's already left the barn.
  7. Last year's defense could cover for defensive mistakes by forwards and contribute to the offense. This year the forwards can't make those mistakes and must not expect much offense from the blue line. Put another way, last year's defense allowed the forwards to learn and grow. Now those forwards must provide a similar opportunity to the defense.
  8. Did you vote? I did, and my selection did not come out on top.
  9. Whodathunked?
  10. You may be vastly underestimating the amount of nickname fatigue out there.
  11. Hey, maybe you have a new avatar for DaveK.
  12. Dude, I'm talking just logo design, not politics. (You knew that but just couldn't resist, could ya.) That geometric logo is everything that people say is wrong with this one: no color, boring, uninspiring, amorphous, etc. Yet it's well regarded (dare I say loved) for some reason ... or another.
  13. I'm thinking Mr. Cashman needs a personal, pointed, and direct phone call from a Mr. Matthew Frattin.
  14. Yup. Imagine rolling this one out today.
  15. May I politely ask (you may choose to not answer) which nickname you voted for?
  16. The new Ralph will never be as good as the old Ralph ... The new (Brien) logo isn't the Blackhawk logo so it's no good*. What changed for both? Time. Exposure. Experiences. *Contrary to what many will tell you, the initial reception to the Brien logo by quite a few was cool at best.
  17. Oh get over it. It's not a dove or a seagull. Next you'll be bucking for this to be the new fight song.
  18. Uh, who spoke with this lad, say, 51 days ago?
  19. I agree. I think the biggest thing we'll see is a cleaned-up and more finished logo (like your avatar).
  20. You may believe that, but almost assuredly what the final-final logo will be will look like a cleaned up and finished version of what was rolled out last week. I could be completely wrong (and completely surprised) but I don't see SME and the administration stepping away to something completely different. Why? Look at the usage already.
  21. Change.org petitions: Slightly more effective than arguing on Facebook or posting forums.
  22. If you voted for it, own it. Package deal.
  23. Imagine a three-color, corporate, not-a-lot-of-detail-and-definition, horse and rider on an new font "ND". <-- NAILED IT!
  24. We're sorry we forced you to click on and read this thread. The title was so unclear of the subject it surely misled you.
