  1. Not sayin', just sayin' ...
  2. Question: Are the bonds on The Betty paid off? Normally creditors want to see some retained earnings to show cash flow and to help guarantee and secure any obligations.
  3. "City Keeps Prime Downtown Empty Land, Asks Residents For Sales Tax Increase Because They Need More Money." is better?
  4. Yup. Science! http://www.livescience.com/21928-london-olympic-swimming-pool-tech.html
  5. This? http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/4081908-3-contrasting-proposals-develop-arbor-park-downtown-grand-forks
  6. I do not know if you are correct or not; however, I've been told the pool is leaking and needs work. I may be wrong, but it was from a reasonable source.
  7. Are you saying the new chair-style seating is not fixed but is mobile and can be retracted and stored? In the photos here (admittedly not definitive) it looks like the chair seating is all out. I don't see anything yet to be pulled out further.
  8. That last picture might start to look like the rendering; however, the wood bleachers over the top of new seating (just to get a capacity number) is something that folks that have to look at it will soon enough come to regret. I'm guessing the top of scoreboard ring approaches $350k in cost and is a pretty easy line item to eliminate if costs are getting too high. I guess I'll stay with the options UND has: - under 3500: Betty - under 6000: Ralph lower bowl - under 9000: Alerus in BB config - under 13500: Ralph in BB config
  9. At risk of repeating myself: Even if that's not how it happened in the most recent statements, that should be done right now on the pro forma that the IAC and President Kennedy are using during their reviews. As it stands now, it looks like the mens side of the ledger is more expensive than it really is. Right now MIH is shown as paying the expense, all the expense ($2,234,982), for use of REA. Between WIH, WBB, WVB, and WSoc, I don't think it is wrong to apply about $1M of that (~45%) to the women's side of the ledger.
  10. Oh, I remember 2001, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015. And we made fun of SCSU's "participation ribbons" all through that era. Once you've reached the top of mountain any other view seems ... lesser.
  11. As long as you have a boss, any boss, you're never completely off the leash.
  12. The GF Herald answered my question: President Kennedy and AD Faison gave it to the committee chair (Kenville). http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/4128488-future-8-und-sports-air-committee-considers-cuts
  13. No, I won't be going to Cabela's, ... I'll be going to Bass Pro Shop.
  14. Could we get gloves with dates on the fingers? "Fill the thumbs! Fill the thumbs!"
  15. Above the line: MIH, WIH, FB, MBB, WBB, VB, ITF, OTF, XC (12 teams, 6 M, 6 W). ___________________ The netherworld: MGolf (self-funded and endowed for two season) ___________________ Below the line: WSoc, WSoft, WGolf, M/W Tennis, M/W S&D. Here's my take: - as noted by SV, the Above the Line group all has new facilities (since 2000) -- Ralph, Alerus, HPC -- that's a "tell" in my mind - soccer uses the HPC and it is participation numbers to balance FB - with the demise of baseball, softball should worry - tennis plays at city-owned off-campus facility - the Hyslop pool needs work
  16. Under the current format (and when Miami won theirs) "Regional Champion" == "National Semifinalist". By definition, Frozen Four attendees are National Semifinalists.
  17. No, but I'm allowed to smirk (and be a little snarky) when you're hyping that versus this.
  18. Well, the last time I saw the 2001 "National Finalist" trophy, Jeff Panzer and Bryan Lundbohm had it in a gate area in the Albany (NY) airport. Panzer set the trophy on the ground, sat down, put his feet up on it and yelled to David Lundbohm (who was coming down the concourse), "Hey, Dave, this is all this thing is good for." That's hung and stung on me since then, or, well, up to say April 2016.
  19. Like I said before, I suspect this is Kennedy's way of making the University Senate (and its IAC subcommittee) feel important and involved in the process and decision. He has to reach out and make nice-nice with the academics because many are upset that he's a business and administrative and political mind first (and not first and foremost an established member of the glorious academy). But lo and behold brave readers, forget not what Kennedy said when he had the IAC start looking at this: He said the final decision is his and his alone. Based on his statements acknowledging the importance of athletics (from his time at St. John's and at Michigan) I trust him.

  21. Well, you have to have something when your two NCAA trophies say "Second Place Team" and "Semi-Finalist".
  22. Yup, 14 in the Summit plus FB and "rasslin'" gets them to 16.
  23. That's a pretty large assumptive leap right there. The Summit plays everything we play right now (except hockey, and doesn't sponsor FB). As is today we'd be short mens soccer and baseball team to play all 19 Summit sports. (Side note: NDSU doesn't play Summit mens soccer, tennis or S&D, or womens S&D or tennis.)
  24. 1. Where'd the "safe" list (MIH, WIH, FB, VB, MBB, WBB, ITF, OTF, XC) come from? I'm pretty sure that committee isn't that smart on their own. 1a. That's 6 mens and 6 womens sports for 12. (Props to "PC Principal" for counting correctly.) 2. Are we sure this isn't Kennedy making "nice-nice" with the University Senate (and their IAC subcommittee)? Let them feel like they got to give input; however, do not forget that Kennedy said when this was started the final decisions were his and his alone (and to be done once).
