    I had to do a double-take. I know Ethan Frisch, but not from hockey. He's seems quiet, but is very responsible and mature. Show him how to do something, let him know when it needs to be done, and it just happens. Seems like a really good kid. But I'd have never guessed he is that level of hockey player before that article. Just the same, I'm claiming my UND fan-dom influence sending him the right direction.

    Part of me wonders if the WIU noise isn't more about back filling in the event Youngstown State bails out of the MVFC. YSU has made "leaving" noise in the past. You have to wonder if they wouldn't rather play teams in PA, WV, VA, and the Carolinas (and they are the MVFC outlier in that they are a Horizon League team). Look at the map of the MVFC: Should YSU leave, adding UND would tighten the footprint (see second map here) and it would put the MVFC into two "clusters" (UxD, xDSU, UNI) + (ISUx2, WIU, SIU, MoSU). Now put that into the "put Summit at 10" blender" ...

    Who just won, and won huge? UND President Mark Kennedy. 1. He just owned the faculty. They complain when they're not involved in the decisions; but, when involved they completely renege. Based on this Kennedy no longer has to ask them anything. Why? He tried and they self-exposed as inept and unwilling. 2. He has carte blanche now regarding Athletics. He can do whatever he wants. Whatever he may have in store he now has complete and full reign.

    I'll say it again: When the move to DI was made, Acting AD Phil Harmeson told a room with 21 coaches in it that about 5 of them would be gone in 5-10 years. No one has had the "gusto", (c) Gino Gasparini, to make the tough call since. That reality and a sagging State budget throw this into the lap of President Kennedy. At least the man is a man and dealing with it. Personally, make me king for a day, I'd reshape the department ...

    Shell game. You mean where information isn't available and visible and the parts are kept moving to keep observers confused? This thread has linked to two years worth of UND Athletics financials available on the internet. Struggle as I may, I'm yet to find the same for NDSU when I look. If you have a link to NDSU's numbers I'm interested.

    I thought there was talk of FCS moving to 12 games; however, that would only extend an already long season*. This seems like such a divisive issue with teams that need FBS games to make budget you have to wonder what forces are in play. *Imagine a 12 game year, and being the 24th playoff team. -- potentially 17 games!

    Huh-who-wha? Their brand new shiny hockey barn LOST $1.5 million in the inaugural season? Makes a $1.4 million problem in the total UND Athletics budget smart a little (not a lot, a little) less.

    C'mon man. That's flat cray-cray talk. It's only going to be at 10000 feet. At 15000 you'd have to pipe oxygen to all the seats to keep people from passing out.

    Wrong question: "If the price of a barrel of oil was where it was 3 or 4 years ago ... " is the correct question. Enrollment really hasn't changed all that much. And the HPC was needed and it wasn't $30M, more like $10M.

    When Kennedy said it's his intention to do this once in his tenure gave me hope.
