  1. I won't say "stinks" but I will agree with you that this first hawk logo is just the sacrificial anode.
  2. Over the last week (at various forums I haunt) I've seen some interesting names pop up. Thus, I bring you ... The SWICH! -- The South West Ice Consortium for Hockey! Arizona State UCLA UNLV SDSU Utah But you need some old guard "cred" so Denver Colorado College USAFA That'll happen right after North Dakota joins the B1G as a hockey affiliate and the Alaska schools are both "option 1-ed" out of ice hockey by their legislature in Juneau. All the above will happen right after I win PowerBall and MegaMillions in the same week.
  3. We know it wasn't the SDSU bunnies. The article said so. So who would be silly enough to transfer to USD, to see USD as an aspirational school. I'll go WIU. (Other MVFC schools have other aspirational schools.)
  4. They're a species that may soon be extinct in Anchorage. On the east coast, they're just endangered.
  5. A $1.4 million problem is better than what they are facing at UAA and UAF. https://mmf.smugmug.com/All-Galleries/Alaska-Nanook-Hockey/201617-Hockey-GIFS/n-wMqVcn/i-f9LMBbL/A
  6. I'll disagree. Like I said before, after an uninspiring name my expectations for a logo could not have been lower. They beat them.
  7. In a word: No. They didn't before; why would they now.
  8. So you're kinda saying ...
  9. Oh. My. http://www.news9.com/story/32784075/oklahoma-native-american-says-he-was-attacked-over-redskins-shirt
  10. https://www.getyarn.io/yarn-clip/8c421e45-3c39-43da-b978-b9eda4f9ffd1
  11. Yeah, but if the NCHC breaks ASU in (say ASU gets to competing for NCHC home ice then bolts) the B1G will be sorry if they take them because the "M" schools won't get any more conference banners.
  12. I never said the GA did anything wrong. I agree with your assessment.
  13. OK, ... so I'm still tinkering. I only adjusted sizes and alignments.
  14. Was the guy at USD with the non-USD backpack and phone in a public place? Were there postings about "no cameras" or such? If the guy was in a public place doing nothing prohibited he should've told the GA to pound sand. And the guy should've never given the GA a student ID to prove anything. Go pound some more.
  15. One other things people forget is that the world knew that the MVFC wasn't seriously looking at anything beyond 10 teams. The MVFC visit that UND cancelled was going to be nothing more than a courtesy visit. Go look at the history in various posting forums. It was well discussed then.
  16. And you do realize to use leverage you need a fulcrum. USD's fulcrum was the league's willingness to be at 10 teams (but not 11).
  17. Patty V of the MVFC has been very and consistently outspoken that the MVFC is not looking for teams.
  18. Do not say "drag racing" in Grand Forks. It causes my blood to boil. < think: Ms. Marvin >
  19. I couldn't believe what Pogo did last year. As a freshman he got moved around; he was a monster at times as a sophomore*. If Wilkie or JJ can make a similar move, look out. *And somewhere over that summer he got faster too.
  20. Jim Rome has a shtick. Love it or hate it. Every person on radio has a shtick. Love it or hate it. Like a guy I know who has owned a couple radio stations told me once: every radio has two knobs.
  21. Isn't that the effective reality today? Most claim DI FB is two tier, namely FBS and FCS. To me that is just ... well ... f-BS. DI FB is three-tiers today: the P5, the G5, and FCS. I dare make that claim of an "effective third tier" because there is a group of schools out there (the G5) claiming to be "FBS" who will never play in the four-team playoff*. The G5 tier gets some of the perks of FBS (the crumbs left in the bottom of the key lime pie** pan of television money) and to claim FBS status. And they get to say they play at the same level as 'bama and LSU, above those "little DI-AA" guys. It's three tiers, but not formalized. I won't be surprised if it becomes formalized, but not before it makes fiscal sense for ... the P5. (Golden rule in play here; they have the gold, they make the rules.) I will again harken to Nick Saban and the SBC commish each about five years ago saying there should be the top 80 or so (the P5) and then the next group ... of about 80. I believe them so I guess I agree with you to a point. There are only 120ish FBS. That would mean taking the bottom 40 of FBS and the top 40 or so of FCS. That would leave the rest of FCS (about 80) to play. *You ain't never seein' Georgia State and 'bama in the National Championship playoff title game. Sorry. Never. Boise State at its peak wouldn't have gotten there. **Mmmmm ... key lime pie ....
  22. I see Johnny like Mario: A three-year role guy who finally nets a few as a senior. Dear Johnny: If you'd like to prove me wrong and pot about 50 this year I'll eat gladly eat my words.
  23. Big Sky Core (from the BSC manual):M (6): BB, CC, FB, ITF, OTF, TennisW (7): BB, CC, Golf, ITF, OTF, Tennis, Volleyball UND non-BSC core sports (6): MIH, WIH, MS&D, WS&D, WSoc, WSoftball MIH survives. (Duh.) I'd guess only 2 of the remaining 5 (M/W S&D, WIH, Soc, Soft) survive leaving UND at 16. That's just my guess and as far as I'm willing to guess/predict.
  24. Let's see, Kennedy puts out an informational email (to kill the UND rumor mill) on Tuesday but gets ripped for not being in Grand Forks when the information comes out. But he's on the UND new faculty bus tour of the State. And here's what everyone just plain missed. Email Tuesday. So, where is Kennedy Wednesday? Let's see: (a) in Bismarck (where the money comes from), and (b) with a SBHE member.
