  1. "The Wildcats will be the primary tenant at the 3,000-seat facility, which is currently under construction." 3000 seats does not scream "moving to NCAA DI". Then again, what's Robson at CC hold? 3400.
  2. "We have some teams not dressing a full roster. We have other teams using defensemen at forward so that they can play." What's safe for the players? I'd say you need 15 skaters. A lot of the times in games coaches "shorten the bench" to three lines and four defense, so that's 13 skaters. I'd say you have to have a goalie and a dressed backup. If you can't roster 15 + 2 for a scheduled game, you forfeit, you take a "1-0" loss and all the ramifications (PWR) that come with it. And about using defensemen at forward, um, let's start a list of UND D that have played at F on a game day roster.
  3. I heard the NHL on SiriusXM guys talking about how recently and NBA team played a game with four guys on long-term deals (rostered players) and four guys off the street on ten-day contracts to get to the NBA required eight dressed players for a game.
  4. PCM and I used to talk about how neither of us could recall "Sparky Vahthisnam" going to the wall in a scrum and not coming away with the puck.
  5. < words here about vaccine passports and real reason not going to restaurants ... >
  6. You are vastly misinterpreting what was written. Chipman heard the number of what it would take to save women's hockey. It was too much for him even, with a daughter on the squad. Ponder that: Dad had to disappoint his little girl. Put another way: Millionaire chair of the ownership group of the Winnipeg Jets found the cost to keep women's hockey unpalatable to even him, as a businessman and as a father. Dare I make a bold statement: Was UND losing donations to Athletics because some folks didn't want the money going down the firepit of women's hockey and UND making a tough economic decision and cutting the program restored the faith of some donors in the stewardship of UND with their monies.
  7. Is Michigan worried that they aren't used to playing back-to-back nights and Western is. Michigan still has two first-rounders in their lineup and they're ducking Western? SPOILER ALERT: When Michigan's application to join a better conference in hockey arrives, the NCHC will reject it.
  8. ... I would think in time for U-18. We are talking about two US citizens trying to repatriate.
  9. This is no disrespect to their skill positions, but most of NDSU's banners are because they had the best OL in the competition.
  10. I'm old enough to remember when you could tell a flu was running through one of Gino's teams because everyone had their own marked water bottle on the bench and didn't use anyone else's.
  11. The NHLPA needs to talk to the NFLPA and figure out how the NFL got testing of asymptomatic stopped.
  12. The USA had to be moved aside somehow, yet you can't completely hose them over (as in last in pool and relegated). And thus there is the reason this is not a relegation year. Happy Gold to Canada. < puts tin foil hat back in desk drawer >
  13. “Always remember, if you ain’t first, you’re last.”
  14. Are they worried that Tech will play a game-style that is not socially distanced and they need to isolate after? How can Michigan know all their players will fail Wednesday night COVID test kits we don't have? This is all so confusing ...
  15. Would Cooper Kupp be where he is now if he'd have "transfer portal'd" out of EWU after his sophomore year (FCS First Team All-American) for say UWash or UOregon's "quack attack" or even Alabama? We'll never know, but it's an interesting thought experiment.
  16. I'd rather talk about who gets more touches and what they'll do with them. I think Smith and Ziebarth will be the biggest beneficiaries and I'm thinking they won't disappoint. Is there a true freshman that could come in and surprise us all?
  17. I've said it before; I'll say it again.
  18. Considering it made the team playlist for pregame warm-ups ... my vote is we all "skydive naked from an aeroplane".
  19. OL is like goaltending and money: Ain't no such thing as too much.
  20. Losing Waletzko (assumedly to the NFL) hurts and is a massive spot to try to fill. I stand by my prior stance of greedy, and wanting both NSU OL in the portal, not just the one. With the one NSU transfer in, do we have enough on the OL?
  21. Gord Miller is a hockey PxP guy I'd put in a class with Tim Hennessy, and there ain't many on that list. Understanding of the game beyond reproach Easy to listen to because master of the 4Ps Homer (so you know they aren't just a robot) Bluntly honest when appropriate *Pitch, Pace, Power, and Pause for effect
  22. I see what you did there.
  23. Seems Montana's punter Brian Buschini portal'd to Nebraska ... and then burned the bridges behind him. The snark on the way out, it's a Buschini-league move by him.
