If Target Center spends the money to improve itself as a hockey venue, you have to figure they're going to try to get more hockey events than just this one weekend.

Brad Schlossman of the GF Herald just put out: NCHC release says Target Center contract is for five years. Release doesn't talk about opt out (not surprisingly).

Has that happened before?

Your assessment of Option 3 is correct. I heard once about a skyway over 6th Ave N that would connect the two if a new building were to come to pass. As far as soccer, remember, there's a facilities master plan floating around out there somewhere that would put a soccer field field east of a proposed second parking ramp which would be located east of the existing ramp and on the east side of Columbia Road. (That area is currently the parking lot north of Memorial and old REA.)

NDSU enjoys being in a weaker conference with an autobid. It gets them a fairly easy road to post-season. Put that autobid in jeopardy and NDSU will start shopping around fast.

I believe I heard that the Calder Cup champion Admrials were 43-3 in the last 46 of their season (regular and playoffs). Kings better finish it Monday. If it comes back to "The Rock" it won't go well for them.

Not having the moniker gets UND into a better conference (Big Sky) than the Summit/MVFC combo that the "Pagophobic Three" currently reside in.

The all-powerful Robert O. Kelley could make both the Summit and Big Sky conference commissioners do his bidding at a time when UND didn't belong to either conference. Man, ROK really has stones!

I understand your hope, and here's why I don't share it with you. I've posted this a bunch, so I'll just paraphrase it here: The settlement agreement talks about what happens to UND if the NCAA were to eliminate the "namesake tribe approval" exemption rules. That's in writing, signed by the NCAA and the State of ND. The State didn't put that in. By bringing up eliminating all exemptions it is a clear sign of what the NCAA's end game is, and it's not allowing more monikers but instead eliminating *all* such monikers (and I'm looking at you Florida State, Utah, and Central Michigan).

There's the problem: The NCAA now has all the power in this situation because they have a signed settlement agreement. And honestly, Standing Rock isn't going to change their stance so does the NCAA's stance matter?

The entirety? Seriously? No. Are there individuals that are? Yes. So do you see individuals or just groups.

Sioux County is run by the Sioux County Commission and is a part of the State of North Dakota. Standing Rock Nation is a soverign nation (as Canada is a soverign nation) recognized by the US Government. The NCAA wants to hear from Standing Rock, not Sioux County. It's in writing in the settlement agreement.

On Measure 2? Property taxes still exist. Did you mean Measure 4? If so ... Nothing. The NCAA wants to hear from Standing Rock Goverment, not Sioux County.

I saw the NCAA's attorney continually point to a signed settlement agreement with the State of ND in front of Federal Judge Erickson. That convinced me that the NCAA won't be budging. Well, that, ... and a Federal Judge agreeing with them.
