  1. Keep the politics out. Thank you. Signed, The Moderation Team
  2. How the {bleep} did Kopitar get so open in OT?
  3. Oh, ... nice, ... so now you're going to get all crabby and owly on me.
  4. "Hi, we're from the NCAA and we're here to help!" http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7990294/ncaa-investigating-montana-football-program-sexual-assault-harassment-reports-female-students
  5. If keeping the "same stance" was always a good thing we'd still have doctors doing bloodletting to cure disease. Times change. Circumstances change. Things change.
  6. There's no need for that. Please maintain some level of decorum. Thank you. Signed, The Moderation Team
  7. That does not align with random polling* by Forum Communications. That showed Grand Forks County as being one of the biggest potential "yes" vote locations in the state. *Online polling is always suspect because it is not a random sampling of the pool but rather a "self-selected" subset of the pool. But enough amateur statistical theory ...
  8. So a "fine" college without athletics has to put its name onto a stadium used for professional and college athletics to draw attention to the college and get the attention of potential enrollees. So even U of Phoenix needs high level college athletics.
  9. Thank you for being the textbook definition of "sore winner". Now, to point, UND has to sponsor at least 14 sports (7M/7W or 6M/8W) to stay classified Division I. That's the NCAA's rule also. So losing sports does damage Athletics at UND. And, as Dave Hakstol has said, sanctions would slowly erode even the mens hockey program.
  10. Measure 1: I don't think legislators should be put into state administrative offices, ever, unless they give up their legislative seat. If this makes appointing legislators to administrative positions more difficult I'll vote NO for that reason alone. Measure 2: Great notion, but they have no implementation plan (so the Legislature gets free reign to create one, like raising sales or income tax rates to make up the difference, and they will). Come back next time with an implementation plan. I'll vote NO now. Measure 3: Stuff like this tends to come back around and prove the law of unintended consequences. I'll vote NO. Measure 4: I'm voting YES for the University of North Dakota.
  11. That sounds like "sanctions" and "death knell to the programs" to me.
  12. Would you rather have you or your relatives be treated by a UND Medical School graduate or someone who learned just enough Spanish to attend an unaccredited medical school in the Caribbean that offered no clinical rotations and no residency programs? There should be no concerns because surely all medical schools are fine schools ...
  13. Skinny Elvis or Fat Elvis?
  14. Not to sound crass, but absentee balloting is open in Burleigh County. PS - Find her a goal to live for beyond June 12. Mental attitude matters.
  15. When I saw that in the Hurled yesterday, and that they've moved atop the UND water tower, I wondered how long until the notion would appear here. GeauxSioux right on cue. If they pick a raptor-based moniker, I'd prefer the apex predator from this region. This guy.
  16. Folks, This a recruiting thread. There's a separate forum for moniker discussions. Please use that. Signed, The Moderation Team
  17. Voltin played for the NTDP and of course we all now know that everyone who ever breathed a breath there will go to the CHL henceforth and forever more. I'll believe Voltin when Voltin says what he's doing. So far it's UND.
  18. UND started the football trend of the field being school colors.
  19. As a part of the settlement agreement between the State of ND (UND) and the NCAA, the State gave up the right to sue the NCAA on this subject in the future. Spirit Lake could have ended this in 2005 or 2006 with a simple two word letter, "See attached", and a copy of their 2000 statement (stating that they had no problem with UND's usage as long as something good came of it). Spirit Lake dropped the ball.
  20. Better use of the time? From now until the vote start convincing the "on the fence" voters to vote yes. And be sure to get the yes folks, all of them, out to vote.
  21. "We would end up being boss of an empty arena." No Minnesota games. No Wisconsin games. The hockey arena is already starting to sound empty.
  22. I think Idaho and the BSC will "meet in the middle". I suspect the superconferences will ask for (spelled: demand) a new tier of DI footballl for just them. That'll leave the bottom 50 of FBS and FCS to sort things out.
  23. Like I mentioned in another forum, I heard something that I hadn't heard before when I was in the western part of the state this weekend: Some out west are viewing Measure 4 as a referendum on Al Carlson and voting "Yes" is their way of giving a "no confidence" vote toward Carlson.
  24. No, scheduling is a contract of consent between two agreeable parties: it takes two to tango. UND would be an agreeable party to MInnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa; however, those three will never be the second party to North Dakota as long as UND is under NCAA sanctions for the moniker.
  25. What about those of us who still want to see UND field a team? Or is it all about Dave?
