Listen to Dave Hakstol for yourself: http://www.fightings...TCLID=205380595 "It will likely diminish our hockey program over time." Not "could be", Hakstol says "likely". If UND kept the name: "We would win a singular battle ... but, really, if we choose that path we lose control over so many key issues ... be at the mercy of others ... " <-- This precisely explains where the pragmatist Dave Hakstol is at. And Hak does state his personal opinion in the press conference, but comes to the pragmatic answer. Listen. Learn.

I'd love Cary to answer two questions: 1. How do you personally feel about the moniker? 2. How should UND deal with the moniker when it comes to the long-term interests of the hockey programs, student-athletes, and the University? Are you sure you'd want Cary to answer question 2? Remember, Dave Hakstol was just a hardcore as anyone and he's admitted the name could be a long-term detriment to even mens hockey at UND.

Three tiers of Division I football ... ah yes, the "everyone gets a trophy" youth soccer model.

You're quoting comments from another forum? Think, man, think ...

Do you understand the meaning of the word "ultimatum"? You have to be in a position of power to give ultimatums. UND is not in such a position. There are over 1200 members in the NCAA. They won't notice, heck, won't care about, the disappearance of one, especially one that's dared flaunt the rules of the organization.

Same old schtick, eh Hamm ... I mean "Mariucci".

The timeout or the waterboarding? -
I doubt the NCAA would waste that much breath. It'd be more like, "See ya."

There are 58 NCAA teams. By definition, wouldn't 29 be above average and 29 be below average?

Rick Zombo anyone? And Easton made the aluminum shafts; Christian repainted them with their trademark logo.

I think the amount of moniker fatigue out there is underestimated. I've been shocked in hearing it from some people I pegged to be more "Fetch" than "82". Add in the Forum starting to tally the costs in "$$$" and it should be interesting.

I took you at your word when you originally (pre-edit) said ...

I'm too lazy to totally scrub this list, but congratulations to the mens (and womens) hockey players graduating this weekend: Benjamin Blood (BSRTS) Jocelyne Lamoureux (BSPXW, Magna Cum Laude) Mario Lamoureux (BBA) Pierre-Paul Lamoureux (BBA) <-- yeah, he didn't skate for UND but he's working for Hakstol Bradley Eidsness (MBA) Evan Trupp (BGS) <-- nice job Trupper! To those I may have missed I offer my sincere apologies and no snub intended.
-
Not quite. The aluminum shafts from Christian didn't have a name on them. The blade inserts had names on them.

Settlement Agreement, Section 2, subsection a, last two sentences: Read those sentences. It's not UND or the State that put those in. That's the NCAA, pure and simple. In poker, those sentences are pure "tells". The NCAA's end game is no namesake exemptions. This move by Florida State is no accident.

dagies for the win.

Some have said, "Why doesn't Florida State have to change?" I've said, "Wait for it. After they knock over UND, they'll come for FSU soon enough." Most scoffed at me. Well, I'm just going to smirk for now. It's not quite time to roll out my four favorite words, but it seems my time to use them may have just gotten another clock tick closer. http://www.tallahassee.com/article/20120509/COLUMNIST04/205090305/Gerald-Ensley-Cimarron-offers-a-name-for-the-future?odyssey=tab%7Cmostpopular%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE&nclick_check=1 Go Cimarron!

Apparently whomever wrote that had highlighted the phrase "defensemen at the NCAA D1 level or above", hit Ctrl-C, and then hit Ctrl-V liberally after that. And the "at the NCAA D1 level or above" phrase says to me that Dane Litke may not have all the qualifications they are looking for. The italicized portion, and the constant use of the phrase "defensemen", is what they call, in poker, "a tell".

My recollections of the WCHA Final Five in Target Center: - the ice was suspect at best - silver butter knife steaks are a short walk away - Dave Spehar got dumped up-side-down into UND's player bench one game.
