Goon Posted November 21, 2007 Share Posted November 21, 2007 As far as I know, the original plan back in the early part of last century, was to make the Indians American citizens, and then get rid of the reservations. One article I read on the subject claimed that this was Congress's plan, however after the Indians were given American citizenship, the reservations were not eliminated for various reasons. (one being an idea that the reservations were a good experiment in North American communism). Now, due to the casino profits, the reservations will never be eliminated. How about the history of soldiers and settlers in Minnesota forcing the Sioux out of their homeland at gunpoint? Nick Coleman and James MacKenzie are obviously consumed with guilt about that, but I don't see them leading the charge to give the land they now live on back to the Sioux tribes it was stolen from. Perhaps I could take them more seriously if they proposed doing something meaningful rather than being obsessed with an empty symbolic gesture that will accomplish nothing and comes at someone else's expense. I didn't think it was a foam at the mouth anti thanksgiving article. It was an ok article. Now Coleman's article that was written and linked earlier that was a piece of junk. Typical while Liberal. Don't even say it David K. I had many white Liberal College professors that puked out the same crap Coleman said in his article copyright Gillette Hall.
