HockeyMom Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Remote car starter-that's all you need, and some HEET. Quote
DAR Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I know this is not hockey related, but I heard about the temps out there. Hope everyone is ok. Try to stay warm. Old man winter is making his presence felt!! Go Scarlet Knights!! It is -15 right now. Quote
Goon Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Oh its hockey related, should make the ice in the arena hard and fast. I just hope it warms up so we don't freeze to death going from the parking lot to the arena. Quote
Sodbuster Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Lived here 55 years and have survived quite nicely. An old saying: -30 keeps the riffraff out. When it hits 20 above, you'll even se college students wearing shorts...no kidding. Plug in the vehicles, dress for the weather, not a big deal. Don't get me wrong...I really don't like these temps. The Whistler Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 As long as the winds not blowing and the car starts it's no big deal. You just stay inside most of the time. Quote
cujo2 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 So what was the low in Grand Forks the last few days?? In the Twin Cites I saw -21. Quote
burd Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Strange, though. Low forecast last night for Bottineau was -34. High today in Great Falls Mt is supposed to be +53. Quote
The Whistler Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 So what was the low in Grand Forks the last few days?? In the Twin Cites I saw -21. It must be nice on the Riveria. Officially we were 31 below. I like to keep track in Kelvin myself. Quote
Siouxmama Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 So what was the low in Grand Forks the last few days?? In the Twin Cites I saw -21. I was in Cooperstown (southwest of GF) over the weekend and Saturday morning it was -35 on the therm. YIKES!! I'm glad I didnt have to go anywhere till Sun afternoon. By then it was only -13. Quote
airmail Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 When we started the snowmobiles Saturday morning in Langdon, it had warmed to -26. (was at -37 early in the morning) Dangerous temparatures for sure, but if you have decent clothing and gear the weather isn't much of an issue. Quote
The Whistler Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 it also contributes to Binge Drinking Oh there you go! You better at least tag that with a "not that there's anything wrong with that." Quote
THETRIOUXPER Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Oh there you go! You better at least tag that with a "not that there's anything wrong with that." This sounds like a story for cassie waldor and her team of crackpot reporter's over at DAZ. Quote
siouxguyinstpaul Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 It must be nice on the Riveria. Officially we were 31 below. I like to keep track in Kelvin myself. Actually - the official low temp here was -16 which was the coldest temp in two years here in tropical southern Mn. Had to cancel some schools of course - too cold for the hearty Minnesotans. Quote
greenwinger_13 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 My truck said -29 this morning... then i checked it online... -30... no wind what so ever.. I threw some hot hot coffee up in the air this morning and it definetly steamed into nothing before it hit the ground... I remember it being -57 one morning in eveleth without windchill... thats not even reasonable Quote
HockeyMom Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I think once it gets to a certain point, the temp doesn't matter anymore it all feels the same. I was thinking when I came back inside after lunch, that it really isn't that bad out because there is no wind. Quote
FIRE HELMET GUY #26 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 The best part about this weather is you can go to the local park and have the hockey rink all to yourself, instead of having to skate around little brats. Although slinging slapshots off their foreheads is kind of fun! Quote
keikla Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I spent Friday in Phoenix. It was about 65-70 degrees, and I actually heard someone from California complaining that it was cold. Weenies. Quote
Fetch Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 "not that there's anything wrong with that." Is there ? If your over 21 & it does not hurt anyone ? Quote
SiouxMeNow Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 here's how we roll in ND!.... -Fill a coffee mug (preferably a RUTGERS MUG!) with water -heat it in a microwave to boiling -THROW mug of water outside and watch it vaporize/freeze instantly in a STEAM cloud! -LAUGH and REPEAT! Quote

It just doesn't get any better than that. However if you use the teapot to heat the water you can repeat faster. That's my suggestion. Quote
