I’m a big Ty Danielson fan and I’ve really enjoyed what he’s brought defensively. But it’s funny looking at the numbers. In Summit League play, we have the No. 2 offense behind NDSU, while our defense is No. 5. We do force a lot of turnovers, which fuels the offense, but we also have the worst effective FG% defense, the worst 3P% defense, and give up the highest free throw rate in the league, per KenPom. Bart Torvik is similar: No. 3 offense and No. 6 defense.

In UND case, we do very little to nothing for any Sports other than Hockey.

Not sure you guys remember the UND Baseball Team helped clean the Ralph Engelstead Arena to help support Uniforms and travel for their program until it was cut. 

UND is doing more Alston payments for basketball and football than most MVC and MAC schools that I've the numbers for so far.  Nobody, including Big Ten schools, have shown any institutional NIL payments for fiscal 2025 fyi (will prob start appearing on 2026 reports).

watching the byu game last night...looks like they kinda have a raised area behind the hoops for fans...but unlike ours....they are right THERE...not 30 feet back.

Mac at Creighton got 12-13 Million- NIL (Team) from the Big East Fox Sports TV Contract alone, just for hoops! That is just one deal, that every Big East MBB got. There are other too, I’m sure.

They also have a separate practice facility and don't have to move bleachers to make extra space.
It's been explained plenty of times but figure out how to get a practice facility done and they could do some good things on the ends. The current set-up was the only way to add more seating on the baseline and still be able to use the entire space.

Besides what they did, what would alternatives be? Not sure how much larger they make for portable bleachers that are more work to drag across the floor and set up?
Not disagreeing on the new setup being less than ideal but honestly curious what other realistic options there were.

I don’t like the seating on the ends as much as the next guy, I think a simple not fix but addition that could help people forget about it would be seats on the wood, courtside. They used to have it, I can vividly remember it. Could be an ADA issue though with the walk way behind the seats?

The main complaint is the fact that it didn’t used to be like this. The seating used to be closer. They made a change for the worse. It would be different if it had always been like this, but it hasn’t

Then why couldn’t you suggest a solution instead of just saying that was the only choice for our athletic department to make? When it more than clearly was not the only option for them. It was just the easiest option to make.

It did, but they wanted to increase the amount of baseline seating.

I didn't have a solution. Also didn't know that there was an option that one person could remotely move significant amount of seating without damaging the floor. And I'm still not sure if that was a viable option for what they did.

Okay so you don’t have a solution or even a thought of a potential solution, but can say that the potential solution provided isn’t viable and therefore the AD made the decision to do the only option they had. Got it! Just trying to make sure I got the story straight. Thanks!
