Dustin Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I was initially thinking that losing this game to get to 7-5 did not deserve playoffs, even if we got selected. Now I think differently. That game tying drive game me hope that I didn’t have before. I hope we do get selected, and if we do, I feel there’s a good chance for victory. Quote

Schmidt was definitely an upgrade in coaching. I wonder now that the continuity provided by keeping Freuchte is no longer needed if Schmidt will bring in a new OC. Offense was definitely the problem in the second half of the season, and Freuchte did come off a little arrogant. 6 Quote

He is working off a team Bubba built. Give it time for him to bring in the guys he wants. 1 1 Quote

AJS Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It bothers me to normalize things that aren’t normal. Losing every one score game is not normal. My frustration w/ this program is if it’s not one thing it’s another. Whatever it is ends between 5 & 7 wins. I do like Schmidt. Let’s see what he can do. Here’s to year 1 being the most frustrating of them all. 3 Quote

The transfers looked good, just need to get some sophomore transfers instead of seniors and lets this team be a Schmidt team rather then Bubba. The hope is that Schmidt will be here still to get through a full cycle where it's just his players. Quote

I am not a ducky and bunny guy on here and I never will be. But if you thought Schmidt was going to have this team contending for a championship in season one, you were setting yourself up for disappointment. -The depth isn't there. -The experience in big moments isn't there. -The lack of athletes at wide receiver hasn't been there for years. The portal will be important going forward. But the real measuring stick will be how Schmidt's recruiting classes pan out on the field. We'll find that out in the next couple of years. I am sure Schmidt and his staff will look at the season and identify areas that need improvement, both in personnel and in scheme. I know the past 15+ years have been frustrating and that whole Groundhog Day feeling is always just under the surface. But I still think Schmidt was a great choice long term. Less than 12 months is not a big enough sample size to determine if the hire was successful or not. 3 Quote

If UND gets in the playoffs, there should be an open battle for QB Quote

rover Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The most important player is the quarterback. NDSU has had them for years. One after another. We need help at that position. Our defense played hard today. Lack of running game killed us. The first play in overtime for minus four was a killer. 1 Quote
