Shouldn’t he have the same common courtesy for guys like Simon Romfo?  He is no longer the starter like many of us had hoped, but he is still being a good teammate, so why continue to rip on him?

@SiouxBoys should have common courtesy it's the right thing to do. I like how Romfo is being a good teammate .

Cripes, with all this bickering, one would think we lost 35-7 yesterday.

I for one am enjoying the new energy and attitude Eric Schmidt has brought to this program.

It’s the usual suspects getting off topic and ruining the threads :whistling:

I agree. Seems weird that people feel the need to bash Romfo and Kostich after yesterday, but here we are.

another missed fg....indoors....30 some yards...missed again....joke

and for every play that simon gets over someone younger and more talented is a step back towards bubba ball...decade by decade....eric seems to be righiting the ship very quickly but come on man....simon over deng deng is next level stuff

FG was partially blocked I think.  could have been a myriad of things that caused it.

Did you watch the game?  I was there and it was pretty obvious what they were trying to do.  Ran Simon on a pass play in the left flat on first down for a short gain.  Nothing to see there, he was just another WR.  The next play they ran him on toss-reverse flea flicker type play hoping to catch UNI off guard for a pass.  UNI sniffed it out and nobody to throw to so he ate it.

Collectively we all love Schmitty and trust his judgement, at least most do compared to people on a message board. He couldn't have spoken more highly of Kostich in an interview a few weeks ago. Was on UNDFootball 360 podcast I think.   Schmitty said he was special teams coordinator the last few years and knows what all goes into it and Kostich is one of the best.  All the coaches he hired have some ST experience and they all work together to make ST successful  They went to a coaches conference with all the big boys from P4 this summer where special teams tactics and strategies were presented and discussed.   He was impressed with Kostich who stood right in there with the all of them and was as knowledgeable as anyone there.

Agree with all of this.

But the question remains: Why can't we recruit quality kickers anymore?

according to the duckies and bunnies on here we already do...it's just bad luck or too windy in the uni dome....and extra points and very very hard now adays with all the climage change stuff going around....back off the ledge before our ST loses us ANOTHER game....and it will happen.

Deng can pass?

SR as a slot/reverse man who can run or throw forces the D to play honest.

Can Deng pass better than Simon?

ummmm.....yeah....one of the best all around athletes on the team....

just seems weird that if you were going to have to have a player either run or throw on a trick play and you needed a WR to do it you would pick Simon over ALL the other guys on the team....fascinating.

AND look who got the cover shot again.....unbelievable.

Agree.  Despite the growth of soccer in the U.S. in the last 35-40 years, we had several better kickers in our last 15-20 years of D-2 than during our time so far in FCS.

Key part of it. Someone who has the thought process and wherewithal to not force something that isn't there and live to play another down.

My grip is they seem to only to articles about Simon or his brother when its the whole team doing well. Why continue to talk about a basically none factor when your starting qb is playing some of the best we have seen at und at the fcs level. Talk about Jerry and the two lbs that are playing lights out or how our transfers are helping turn things around. But no another article about little simon.
