mikejm
some players work out better than expected and some dont, its just reality of recruiting when it comes down to it. I almost hate to bring this up, because I don't know how many of you might already know this, but I wasn't recruited by UND as a scorer.... but I sure turned out to be! USA Hockey
Lets please keep this forum at recruiting, talk about next years roster somewhere else. I figured this would be the best forum to post this, but here are some videos of some of the NHL draft picks including Turris. Turris http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=530 James Van Riemsdyk http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=530 Angelo Esposito http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=530 Sam Gagner http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=530 Patrick Kane http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=530 Karl Alzner http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=530 Keaton Ellerby http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=530 Jonathon Blum http://video.tinypic.com/fullsize_video.ph...&height=

Hey I had to make up for posting a negative thread, so I figured I would put the videos on there Malone was last ranked by NHL Central Scouting to go in the second round, which is where he originally started before he went down in the mid-term rankings. I've seen Malone play and have been on here before talking about his talent and he definetly deserves to be in the second or third round. Although I haven't seen him play, the biggest surprise was Frattin who was not ranked at mid-term and went all the way up to the fourth round, must have gotten a little more recognition after committing here . Blood has pretty much stayed put in the rankings and in terms of watching him play that's about where I think he will go. I also haven't seen Eidsness play and since he is a goalie it's hard to tell if and where he will be drafted since he is a goalie. It's hard to tell with Gregoire, in seeing him play his potential (although they are different style fowards) is right up there with Malone. Since he was out for a while during the USHL season, his draft ranking went down to the fifth round but if he can show his talent fully healthy he may get some better look and move up a ways where he belongs. Another player that was ranked at mid-term but was not ranked in the final rankings was Bruneteau, which I don't see why because in watching him play I think he has a good amount of potential and statistically didn't have that bad of a season. So we'll see if he sneeks in as a draft pick and if he does I assume it would be 6-7th round.
USA Hockey
The Exiled One mentioned him earlier and was being talked over on GPL, but one kid to maybe watch out for is Corey Fienhage who is a d-men from Eastview. I haven't seen him play yet and he should be up here this fall for the hs elite league but he's been a little bit under the radar up until this point and has impressed people at the Select 17s. Big A HG
According to Jay, his ankle is no factor and is 100%. I think you can really see that it wasn't a problem at all with the way he played after recovering from surgery. I don't see anything but good things coming from this kid, and if the scouts know what they're doing, he could (should) go much higher than currently projected. I'm not saying he should be a first rounder or anything, but I think a 2nd round pick wouldn't be a waste. It's not like the kid is "injury-prone," he just had one injury and healed perfect from it. USA Hockey
Drew Fisher from Sioux Falls of the USHL commited to Minnesota yesterday. I don't think we recruited him much but this is the second time this summer Lucia has brought in a 20 year old player. This could imply that Okposo is surely out the door. redwing77
no reason to label forney a potential bust until we can see him healthy for a full year then we will talk.........if kozek doesnt add to his low goal career goal total already with 12 then we can start talking bust. he should double his career total at least next season or he will find himself on the checking line again. and ya know........some players work out better than expected and some dont, its just reality of recruiting when it comes down to it. Actually, there's no reason to label ANYONE a bust while he still wears our jersey. People say that Trevor Hammer was a bust as a player with UND. Hammer didn't play every game. Kozek hasn't missed many games other than because of injury. Why would Hak play a player who is a bust? Probably another reason to fire Hak. Hak suits up players he believes give the team the best chance to win. And, by golly, Kozek suits up night in and night out. Yeah, I'm the world's biggest homer with blind loyalty to the coaching staff because: If Hakstol sees enough in any Sioux player to play him despite what the fans think, then I'll side with Hakstol 2,000,000% of the time. The Exiled One
I saw him first http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?s=...st&p=258522 Funny, I didn't remember posting about him here. Paraphrasing what one opponent said about Fienhage... "He used to have an attitude, but maybe it has settled down a bit. I hate skating against him because he uses his physical prescence every time he is out on the ice." If he plays anything like former Husky Jeff Finger, I'll take him in a heartbeat. USA Hockey
I'm not sure if we've recruited this kid, but he's slowly rising and could still go the college route. He's listed as an 08, but he is an August of 90 birthday which means he's younger than Kristo and Fink. He's received interest from Michigan State and had a hell of a year in the BCHL for a kid that is only 16, here is the link. http://bchl.bc.ca/leagues/rosters_profile....playerID=238612
shep
That's because he was. NO KIDDING!!!! If you can't call Trevor Hammer (WHO?) a bust then there is a loyalty oath that says that a Sioux fan is forbidden from calling anyone who puts on a Sioux jersey a bust. LOL!!! That's an oath I can't take.

That's an oath I can't take. I didn't state that correctly. Looking back at Trevor Hammer, it is easy to call him a bust. I just don't think we should label any player a bust while he's still playing for the Sioux. Afterwards, well, that's a different story I guess. USA Hockey
Good find, he's already 6'0" and 180 lbs...good size for that age. Defense wins championships. If you look at both Travis Zajac and Kyle Turris stats when they were 16 in the BCHL, they were pretty similar to this kid. He also didn't play on a very talented team this year if you look at their roster. Hopefully he doesn't go the WHL route and he could easily do what Zajac and Turris did and have a breakout year when they are 17 and become a top prospect. The nice thing is this kid already has the weight which can be big coming into college. I'm sure if he decides to go the college route, he will make a commitment in the fall.
