riders06
Not saying Arnason is a D1 talent or not, but he did play better against Deichert head to head. Didn't Deichert give up 8 goals against Red River, or did he get pulled before that? He also wasn't that impressive at the state tournament. You certainly can't argue with Arnason's numbers. True he played for a very good team, but then again so did Deichert. http://www.gfparks.org/ndaha/goalieleaders.html Arnason was also the starting goalie that was on the festival team that won the national tournament. He has been looked at and contacted by two different WCHA schools.

Goon
Wisconsin and Denver. Rumor has it that someone representing Wisconsin was at either EDC or the State Tournament. Rumor has it. No confirmation I would suppose. Again, people are dreaming here, I have nothing against the kid but he isn't going to play in Division one. I just don't see it happening. Lets see Walski isn't going to get a sniff and we are supposed to believe this kid is going to play at denver or wisconsin...

Chris
"looked at" and "offered a scholarship are two vastly, vastly different things. Teams watch thousands of kids every year, but very few ever get offered a roster spot.
tnt
Ok, when he is actually wearing a Uniform of the said teams then come back and talk to us. He said someone is looking at Arnason, nothing more. Someone asked a question regarding GF players, he responded.

sprig
Interesting that Jacques Lamoureaux has successfully reapplied to the Air Force Academy, and will leave Northern Michigan for the Academy this fall. Meanwhile, brother Mario has opened his recruitment and will probably be in the USHL this year (see Brad's blog).

The Exiled One
Two Minnesota HS kids that Sioux fans should keep a close eye on... Mike Fink and (The) Nick Mattson. File this under "semi-credible". Fink's commitment could come soon.

USA Hockey
Fink is from Hopkins and Mattson is from Chaska. Fink attended the NTDP tryout camp in March but I'm not sure if he's going to play for them or not. Mattson will be playing for the NTDP. Fink would be a 2009 recruit and Mattson a 2010. I believe Fink made a recruiting visit here and there are four schools in the WCHA (including us) that are interested in Mattson.

John Ramage (Chesterfield, Mo. - St. Louis Amateur Blues U18) Nate Schmidt (St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud Cathedral) Beau Schmitz (Howell, Mich. - Belle Tire U16) David Shields (Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester Jr. B Americans) Brad Walch (Saginaw, Mich. - Honeybaked U16) William Wrenn (Anchorage, Alaska - LA Selects U16) Goalies Joe Cannata (Wakefield, Mass. - Boston College H.S.) Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla. - Cambridge Hawks Minor) C.J. Motte (St. Clair, Mich. - Honeybaked U16) It should be noted that Mike Fink, Seth Helgeson, and David Warsofsky are 1990 birthdates that are trying out for a spot on the U18 team next season. This is going to be a very tough team to pick, as the 1991 class looks like a very deep year for USA Hockey. The competition for spots on the blueline should be especially intense. I think it is interesting that there aren't a ton of Minnesota kids on the list, and I'd guess that not that many will make the team. Zach Budish would probably be considered a lock, but I think he'll be returning to Edina HS next year. Nate Schmidt is probably also another lock, but again, there are way more quality defenseman than spots available. Meanwhile, it definitely looks like a great year for kids playing in Michigan and California. It will definitely be interesting to see which direction USA Hockey chooses to go in. I think it has the potential to be a very exciting group of kids.
