redwing77
Is Volpei fast? I haven't seen him play, but that's what I hear.
dagies
I haven't seen him play, but that's what I hear. I must be mixing him up with someone else. I thought he was the guy I'd heard could score a ton but skated like me, which is why he didn't have the big programs after him.

Bear Man
Some guy on GPL ( I don't have any clue if he's reputable or not) is reporting that Alex Kangas is committing to the Gophers.

Vegas
Heisenberg's Class of 2006 Hockey Recruits page. Volpei committed to SCSU on Friday. Motzko is building a small but extremely fast team. Noticed Justin Guttek on this site and he is still available: Justin Guttek-D Salisbury Prep 5'10 185 2-8-88 2004 Western U-17 Team Extremely good skating defencemen. A little on the small side but can beat just about any forecheck you can throw at him. I'm sure Toews would love to play with one of his old teammates. redwing77
oh well, move on to the next one............ Precisely. I've heard nothing to suggest Kangas WASN'T going to commit to the Gophers.

jk
Bummer to lose Kangas. Maybe we're OK in net with Genoway coming next year. This is from last night's Vernon playoff game: "The Spruce Kings just about got the break they were looking for, down 4-0 Jon Olthuis come way out to play the puck, as he was caught he tried to handle the puck and then coughed it up to a Prince George player, Chay Genoway come back, sliding back into the goal to make a street hockey like save to keep the puck out & keep Olthui's shutout still on the line." siouxnami
Shot down by at least 3 goalies in a row. What's up with that...
WiSioux
Maybe goalie recruits are looking at our solid, young goaltenders and they know that they won't get much playing time so they opt to go elsewhere. I would like to see the Sioux get a few more recruits, but at the same time I realize with the HUGE freshman class that we just had, you can only have so many people on the team... It's hard to say who will be leaving early
AZSIOUX
Shot down by at least 3 goalies in a row. What's up with that... i think a lot of desicions from potential recruits look at the situation and say there is no way im playing soon unless jpar goes pro which who the hell knows what will happen. then you see phil who will get the #1 shot if jpar leaves..so maybe we pull one after we know what happens with jpar. im not to worried at all when it comes to recruits and we will end up with a good one!! any shattuck goalies that have stood oot?? redwing77
An interesting write up on goaltenders on Chris Heisenberg's blog. Some interesting names to keep an eye on are Pat McGann, Bryan Hogan, Beau Christian (Team Illinois' roster page. ), and a few others I listed earlier in the thread. A meaningless sidebar about McGann is that he was an 8th or 9th round draft pick in the last draft.
Rick
Thiessen, Kangas, and Cheverie The Sioux weren't shot down by all three of those goalies. Also, I think we should remember that Belfour was a walk-on. Goehring was a goalie that wasn't heavily recruited, and Parise didn't have a lot of options. On the other hand, Siembida was heavily recruited, had full-ride offers from all the top programs in the country, and UND won that battle but it didn't work out too good. Even if we lose Parise this year, we'll still have Lammy for two more years.

WiSioux
Does anyone know anything about a goalie, Jason Paul, from Marshall School in Duluth? From a friend that graduated from that school last year, I hear that is pretty good and is thinking about going to UND next year... he's a senior. I haven't heard anything about him... so I have no idea. I see that he was named to the Class A
Chris
Beau Christian is definitely a name to keep an eye on. He's from Moorhead and is the cousin of Jordy Christian. I think Bryan Hogan is pretty good too, but it'd be pretty rare to see a kid from Michigan go out to North Dakota. Someone mentioned Justin Guttek earlier in this thread. There's some other defenseman on his prep team that North Dakota is probably looking at as well.
