Medicine Hat knows that they are returning for this fall, but would be expecting them to move on the following year. Might as well announce it right away and avoid dealing with all the speculation all season. Why would they declare before they have to unless they feared losing the option? I get why WE would like them to, but why would they put down their cards now? Quote

I would imagine if they commit then they can just focus on playing hockey, rather then always being asked or speculated. 1 Quote

Thats true enough, but if they are as good as represented, they are a few short years from negotiating hockey contracts as a professional—with the assistance of an agent, of course. If being asked about their plans is too burdensome, they have some catching up to do. Quote

There’s really no point to be honest. Maybe behind the scene, but not publicly. I’m hearing rucks are most likely coming to UND if they play ncaa. But again, in this new world it only matters if they actually show up. Things can change so fast. 2 Quote
Fratt Mattin Posted Monday at 03:01 PM Posted Monday at 03:01 PM Article about Fitzhenry in the Tribune mentions that we are also battling the Gophers for Fred Schneider. I see he follows Chyzyk too. It’s interesting because I was under the impression we weren’t really in that race anymore. I also think there’s probably no room for him if we land the Rucks, unless he’d be willing to play one more year of juniors. Regardless, it’s good to see us in the thick of it for all these top names 2 Quote

Popular Post yzerman19 Posted Monday at 08:36 PM Popular Post Posted Monday at 08:36 PM I don't think we are in on Schneider. In the upcoming elite 2010's (can't offer until 8/1) I have heard we are in on Liam Pue and RJ Thompson (they are friends and lit up the WSI on the same line). I wouldn't be surprised if we are in on Maddox Schultz too. Those are 3 of the top 10 2010's...Bryn and Jacks just lining up the chippaz! Nice mix of WHL studs and USNTDP studs...just like Fitzy and the Rucks...I like that feel. Now if they could get the Fighting Sioux name back too, then I would call for canonizing lol. 3 5 Quote

I also didn't think we were in on Schneider, which is why I thought it was worth mentioning when it appeared in the Tribune. I wouldn't exactly call them college hockey insiders though, so maybe it doesn't mean much. Can't speak for Pue, but I have also heard we are in on Thompson. That would be another pretty impressive grab out of the cities if we could make it happen Quote
yzerman19 Posted Monday at 08:54 PM Posted Monday at 08:54 PM Yeah, Thompson was a breakaway academy kid, so he knows Chyzyk from there. I guess his grandfather was CFO of Altru for a really long time. He models his game after Toews. His development coach at Eden Prairie was Jason Blake. Not that any of those things make him a lock, but should certainly put us in the hunt. 3 Quote

I think we will be very targeted with our approach to the 2010's simply because of the Matt (Joey) Cullen affect at Minny. I think it's pretty safe to say they will be getting a lot of the NTDP kids and the other elites that Matt got to come to Moorhead. I would imagine there are 3-5 known that are already Minny locks. Agreed but he is going to want them playing with high end players hence how he got kids to come to Moorhead (and not saying Moorhead didn't already have nice talent) to play Bantams with Joey. I think it's safe to say they will get a nice crop of 2010's. Quote
nascar99 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Shaeffer Gordon Carroll (teammate of the Ruck Twins in Medicine Hat) is the next name to watch. Though with him being a Salt Lake City native, would expect him to be a Denver lean until proven otherwise Quote
