The “fire Bob” chatter is starting to get loud in Dinkytown. Letting him go is warranted but unlikely, in my opinion.

GPL created a "Future of Pride on Ice" thread instead of the usual fire Bob thread.

They keep saying Ben Barr

The cost of firing Bob, buying out Barr, and signing him to a new contract would be very steep. Likely well over $2 million.  That’s also if Barr is willing to leave Maine for Minnesota.

I hope they don’t go after Garrett Raboin.  He’s doing a nice job at Augie.

Would it be possible that the Gophers go after David Carle? Would he even be interested if courted?

Edit: or Pat Ferschweiller? He’s from Rochester, MN.

Funny they both have come up. Carle has young kids and DU let him keep is scholarship. Unless the Avs job came open he's not leaving

The success in year 1 that Dane and Co has had in my head makes me think it’s makes Bob’s seat slightly hotter.

Here's to Minny signing him to a big extension.

There's no way WMU woudl let ferschweiler go to another college school.  They would pay whatever it took to keep him. Also, why go to minnesota when you can continue to coach your alma mater in a better conference with better facilities?

With the new building coming he ain't going anywhere

Fair point.

i brought it up because I experienced it when the Gophers were able to poach Don Lucia from CC. I get it-CC’s a much smaller school and program than Western but they had an incredible run in the mid to late 90’s winning 4 McNaughton cups in a row and back to back FF appearances and I’m sure that was a very attractive draw for the gophers similar to the recent success of the Broncos. I’m sure the Gophs will go poaching if/when Motzko leaves. Just a matter of who they’ll go after. Perhaps Raboine?

Yeah, I get it.  I just think where Fersch is at this point in his career, he'd gladly take an almost sure lifetime position in a town he loves with a brand new facility over the pressure that would come with being the HC at Minnesota.  I could be wrong, but if he were 15 years younger i'd be more worried.

You’re right and just look at Lucia. He won back to back natty’s within his first couple years as Gophers coach and then how the sentiment changed as years went by and how much Gophers fans wanted a change.

McKenna’s preliminary trial begins the same day as the Big Ten tournament begins

Thought it’s likely to not interfere with the game as PSU likely will be hosting and the trial is in the morning
