Random though - I think Wisconsin and Michigan State are my two favorite B1G hockey teams.  I read the comment above on Notre Dame, and if they did the leave the B1G, I would absolutely want them in the NCHC.  Should have been a charter member.  Probably the only missed calculation by the NCHC.

My recollection is that Notre Dame's TV contract with NBC was a sticking point in getting a conference TV deal.

I’d rather not see a team that football rules their schedule in the league. Thursday night and Sunday afternoon games don’t thrill me.   Plus the other ND hasn’t much of a pedigree.   Don’t need another CCHA has been.

Notre Dame has been on a hot streak this past year with recruiting, so who knows how good they could be in the near future

Notre Dame was in Hockey East for about 15 minutes until they figured out that there was going to be a lot of travel to the east coast.  Now they are complaining about being in the B1G?  These guys would bitch if they were hung with a new rope.

That's a hard no. The whole idea of the NCHC was hockey first schools and Notre Dame doesn't fit.

There’s the Michigan fans that are bitching about them and wanting to kick them out. I’d laugh if they left because of the losing they’ve been doing lately. 
 

On another note, I saw that because of the rule in the CFP of them being ranked 12th they are automatically in. There are ADs or coaches that are talking about not scheduling them, I didn’t go read the post about it but that would be hilarious if they are actually thinking of doing that. 🤣

How do you feel about ASU being in?   Not Hockey first that's for sure.

Not a fan of ASU being added.   I think they were purposely put in just for travelling fans.  In that regard it’s a plus and they appear to be motivated to promote and get better,   Miami on the other hand supplies nothing .

Not too thrilled about it. They don't fit hockey first mentality but have shown a good commitment to the sport.

When the NCHC was forming (2011), Notre Dame had recently played in a National Championship game (2008 - lost to Boston College), and did again shortly after play began (2018 - lost to Minn-Duluth), so they were at very worst an equivalent hockey school to some of the schools we did end up with.  Plus, the conference is called the National Collegiate Hockey Conference - few schools have a "national" branding like Notre Dame.

Like you said, I think it was more about Notre Dame keeping their own TV deal, which I think the NCHC viewed as them being treated special.  Not a great precedent for a new conference.
