I'm curious what the deal is with Spicer going to ASU.   I know he was a UND commit years ago and was at Duluth at one time.   So we didn't want him or he didn't want us?   I'm guessing the first.   I haven't paid a lot of attention to hockey, sorry.

UND wanted him to play one more year in the USHL.  He didn't want to, so went to UMD instead.  In hindsight, he could have used that extra year of USHL 'seasoning'.
His 2nd year at UMD, he ran into academic problems and was withdrawn from the school.

Why in heaven's name would I spend any time whatsoever reading his past posts?

Burd dude, Why read his past posts? To see that you’re either right or wrong about his posts. Seemed like your post w/BSoot was harsh. BSoot’s a cool cat. We’re all sioux brothers and sisters here. Just sayin……Go sioux

Menghini, Gault, Perdion

Hoping for? Or likely getting?  Menghini and Fault would be good but both are wings. Looks like Perdion was the 4th line center for Long Island and we seem good to go on depth guys. Need a first line center.

First line center will be McKenna.
If Perdion is defensively sound and can chip in a few goals while centering the 4th line, I’ll take it.

Going to be hard to find top 6 centers in the portal.

I like that optimism with us being the likely destination for McKenna.

Based on stats it seems like both Perdion and Gault were some of the better +\- players for both of their teams. Obviously that stat doesn’t always tell a great story. Also looking at the player stats for Ferris. Wowzer they were bad haha.

McKenna is Big 10 bound. Michigan is what I’ve heard from NHL reporters

Schloss insinuated that Michigan has multiple silent commits out of the O that they're sitting on until the summer. Wonder if they do anything more in the portal

I tell you one thing, this whole portal thing every year really makes me appreciate guys like Griffin Ness even more.  The guy could have moved on several times, but chose to stay even though he didn't get a ton of ice time when his numbers should have dictated a little more.

1883’s gonna need some serious funding if they’re going to outbid Michigan.

I agree to a point, but a player like McKenna is going No. 1 and will be making max contract in his first season. Doubt $200K or whatever that number is will be super important to him. I guess I could be wrong.

I believe this is correct. Online articles indicate that *if* he decides to go the college route, NIL dollars are not important. Most important is development for the next level. Several sources indicate North Dakota and Michigan are the two in the running. Here's to hoping.

It’ll be a factor. Deek’s pizza or 200k.

Whomever lands him won't have him more than two years.

Which is why Jackson's comment on having 3 to 4 year players is so important.

Yep, big time programs have to balance having the mercenaries along with the 3-4 year culture guys. If you don't balance it out well enough, you end up with Michigan (mostly mercenary approach) or Minnesota (mostly culture approach) esque title droughts.

Of course it's a factor, but the kid is a stud. 200K will be peanuts to him soon. He's going to go where he thinks will be best for his development.
