Popular Post F'n Hawks Posted Sunday at 07:01 PM Popular Post Posted Sunday at 07:01 PM Like many have said, I think this year has been his best coaching job. This team is overachieving with the talent they have. I like that they have switched up their defensive philosophy and are trying new things. This team has proven me wrong this year. With that being said, I am not too impressed with the Summit this year outside of NDSU and St Thomas. Also, who recruits the team and has a say in the talent they have? For those saying that UND is a tough job (which it is), and that it was voted the worst job in the Summit by the coaches. (I think this job is better than KC and USD but that’s a whole other debate). Is it really that crazy to ask for a better than a better win percentage than 40% against D1 teams? I don’t really understand the “You could not do better than Paul Sather given the resources this program has” argument. Sure, there are limitations, but has he really done anything that special? I suppose it could get worse than it has been but isn’t it worth the risk? His best team choked a game away in the Summit quarterfinals. There hasn’t been a lot of high points other than that season. 5 Quote
sioux24/7 Posted Sunday at 08:56 PM Posted Sunday at 08:56 PM NCAA transfer portal opens April 7th. Would imagine if we have players enter, they would announce their intentions prior to that. If Uelmen, A3 and the Curtis twins all enter, we are just starting from scratch again basically. I guess the Curtis twins don’t really matter in terms of this years roster but if they figure out their want to compete, they could be good. We would return Kraft, Wylee, Guga and Jones for players that play now. Bring in Moore, Evanson and Hanson. Some decent pieces but far from the top of the Summit. That is what brings me to the bigger question. If we are essentially starting over from a roster standpoint anyway, does it make sense to also start fresh with the coaching staff? I do not know what the right answer is, but it is something worth thinking about. Quote
GoodGood Posted Sunday at 09:02 PM Posted Sunday at 09:02 PM Something tells me an extension is coming no matter what happens the rest of the year. I mean Sioux Falls media was jumping in this week demanding UND to give him an extension. Just weird stuff Quote
UND92,96 Posted Sunday at 09:05 PM Posted Sunday at 09:05 PM I kind of expect Uelmen to come back. Quote

Why does it translate to losing ~70% of the games we play against D1 competition?? 1 Quote

It is... but St Thomas is like his back yard coming from Minnetonka. They have awesome facilities, money and a program that will contend into the future. If the staff here is removed and/or many of his friends leave, i would assume he would at least consider it. I'm sure there will be people in ears that are close to him. Just saying. Quote
