So loyal and committed to UND that you fail to hold UND to a higher standard: a grave example of being too far on one side of the spectrum.

The problem with many of your comments is that you seem to think you know what people do or don’t do based on something you don’t understand or don’t agree with. There is nothing in my comments that say anything about holding “ UND to a higher standard “ or not. I don’t take comments by any of us on a fan board too seriously.
We aren’t the ones with the authority to make the changes you seem to want. I can donate or not donate but that won’t change things.
You have no clue who I speak with at UND, the subject of the conversation. My opinion is no more important than yours or anyone else’s. Someday you will realize yours isn’t either.
The nonsense about holding an organization to a higher standard is keyboard warrior jargon. I think it was the motivation speaker Matt Foley said that and a nickel will get you a cup of “jack squat”.

I figured that strategic comment would get your attention.

I can appreciate your connections and experience, but I don’t agree with your logic in some circumstances. It’s probably a good thing that you don’t take fan board messages too serious. I don’t either. But the majority decision amongst those that value UND and their athletic programs does in fact matter (or should).

Certainly the “decision-makers” will do what they want to do, but as has been said on numerous occasions, if the “decision-makers” such as your beloved Chaves purposely fail to factor in the opinions of season ticket holders, boosters, and alumni, then the “decision-makers” are a part of the problem, not the solution.

We all know you’re taking the bet (again) that UND will improve under Chaves, and I’m okay with that because I’m all for optimism, but clearly this subject (UND MBB coach) and associated question has a verdict that needs to be acted on: time for a new MBB head coach.

At the rate Chaves is continuing we will have a arena full @iramurphy white haired people happily clapping and cheering at our team down 30.  Just happy they gave it the good old college try.  Talking how nice our coaches are in the community.  If this is the draw our administration wants it will slowly kill sports at the university.

I have already seen a decline at the basketball games since I moved here. I use to love going to them. It was loud,  maybe a little rowdy and alot of fun.  This year was the least amount of games I have ever went to.  That being said I am pumped again about und football and that started by making one change ! Let's do it for basketball.

like the bronx cheer the bball team got when they got their 8th point with 3 minutes left in the half last month.....

Added an important addition.

With all the coaching contracts about to expire in the same year as the athletic director 2026 could be a year to right the ship all around. But I do still wonder if the coaching is really that bad all over or is it the way the athletic director runs the department.

I’ve been to one game in the last 3 yrs.  I don’t live in GF.
I haven’t said how I feel about either retaining or getting rid of any of our coaches or Chaves.  I’ve said I don’t believe either Sather or Chaves are going anywhere this year. Earlier I said I thought it was time for Mallory to move on. Since that time it looks to me like she’s probably staying also. I don’t believe UND should spend the money it would take to buy out Barry’s contract.
I wouldn’t know if our coaches are “nice in the community “ but I would hope so.
I don’t have white hair. I’ve had no discussions with Andy or Chaves regarding our programs.
Why you think any of that has any effect on the future of our programs is crazy.
What I think should be irrelevant to you. I have had some experiences that I base my opinions on but this fan forum provides comic relief.

Nothing wrong with your comments except assumptions. I don’t have a beloved anyone at UND athletics.
I believe the decision makers take into account opinions of ticket holders, fans and alumni. The majority of them may have a different opinion than you or I.

Right now the public perception of UND athletics is terrible. So if the majority of the athletic department has a different opinion that means they’re ok with where we are at? If they’re not ok with where we are at, why do they keep handing out extensions to coaches that don’t deserve them? Something is not adding up with this athletic department. Most importantly, wins are not adding up for the athletic department

Chaves doesn't care about wins and losses. His decision-making since Kennedy brought him in prove that.

Time for Armacost to prove he cares about athletics as a key part of our overall mission as an institution and replace Chaves with someone who holds both coaches and athletes to high standards.

If you reread my post you will see that I said the majority of fans “may not” agree with our opinions, maybe they do. I don’t know what the public perception of UND athletics is and how that aligns with opinions in the athletic department.  I don’t know why they extended the contracts they extended.

Public perception from the majority of UND fans is not good.

More strawman arguments? Or is that quote somewhere next to the other alleged similar quotes?

Regardless of who hired him, the current president has currently endorsed him and gave him an extension after working with him for multiple years.

Those “assumptions” are based upon more historical foundation and factual circumstance than you either realize or are willing to embrace.

Literally the only reason that football got their change is because the alumni/fans had enough and voiced it through several channels.  It was too much to avoid.

The same thing is happening now.

Correct. But @iramurphy and @jdub27 will call such as alternative fact, baseless assumption, and a strawman argument.

This fan board really is good ol’ entertainment, but it also is an interesting microcosm of what presently troubles UND athletics.

@jdub27 has also said multiple times that coaches with .330 win records should be 50/50 on getting contract extensions or not. His opinions on anything actual sports related should be taken very very lightly

Really?  You must be pretty special to be able to have all of the answers and know what others think.  Good for you.

Asking where a very specific claim was stated is all those things? We're fine with making up stances and quotes of others with no basis in reality? You're above that nonsense.

If the claim was actually accurate, the pressure put on to make a change with football wouldn't have made a difference. Enough people did what they felt they needed to in order to make the work and budget challenges worth the squeeze.

Always an eye-opening reminder that somethings never change around here; again, a microcosm of the problems that currently haunt UND. Two identities making countless comments on one thing while meaning another, just to try prove a point. “If it looks like a horse, then it’s probably a horse.” Some try way too hard on misdirection.  The culture of UND cannibalism needs to be eliminated.

Anyways, here we are again at a UND coaching discussion. We all know which way this should go, but why do anything efficiently around here?

There is a recent article in the Aberdeen newspaper regarding potential candidates for the Northern State job, but it's behind a paywall. Anybody read it? Curious whether Sather was mentioned.
