UND vs Northeastern

I have a feeling the boys (including McMahon) are going to stomp the hell out of Norhteastern tonight. Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I know this team has what it takes to be great. The thing is, they need to do it as a TEAM this year.

We've got a bunch of senior experience in Schneider, Fuher, Jones, McMahon, Fylling, Massen, etc. But so far they have not shown the leadership & poise I expect.

The young talent is top-notch. But again, players like Murray & Stafford really need to get things going. I don't like the idea that they are in a Soph Slump. Not at all.

In time, I think this team is going to find itself and be hell to play against. Just when that will happen is hard to say. The weak penalties, lack of crisp passing, and absence of a backcheck are some big hurdles to get over.

Here's hoping they get on a roll tonight. With as much talent as this team has, I never thought the Sioux would be in this situation, even with the NHL defections and the coaching change. UND needs to prove itself an elite program yet another time. Get 'er done, boys.

Perhaps but we can't be too sure. Remember Northeastern's first regular season non conference win was Michigan... if they can beat a surefire Frozen Four team, they could give us trouble.

It's probably because Northeastern isn't good. They are not rated in the top 25. I know they beat Michigan this year :0. Last year they beat Frozen Four contestant BC and still only finished 11-16.

From what I've seen, the younger players have been playing very well, it's the older more experienced players who aren't stepping up and playing to the level we know they can. Spirko, Kaip, Zajac, etc have all impressed me so far, same with Porter and Smaby. McMahon has been the best player on the ice for the Sioux in most games, and it hurt to lose him against BC. Whether or not it shows up on the stats sheet, he is one of the key players to this team. They need him this year.

It is my impression that the sioux are just getting used to some changes. This team has enough talent to play and beat anyone, they just need to bring it together.

Passing was piss poor against minnesota (IMO, that is why we lost the game so badly) and the team looked tired. They need to find their groove.

Murray and Stafford are playing hard but I think Stafford is trying to do too much. It's like he's trying to play the fancy/finess forward, when hes really more of a power forward type. Leave the fancy stuff up to Spirko and Murray and use your strength on the puck to score goals.

Let's face it, Prpich is an agitator and he's good at it, but he needs to take smarter penalties. Greene and Jones have looked a little off but they don't worry me very much, they will come around. I still feel they will be the best D-pair in the league this year.

Lastly, remember guys, its OCTOBER. This team has had alot of changes since last year and its going to take some time to shift into. They've lost two games, don't be calling for peoples heads just yet.

Kick some Northeastern ass. :0 (And give Phil the start!! ;) )

This is a weird interview with Foyt. He is asked to talk about the team, but he can't really speak about playing in games. I guess he has a lot of time to think about the team then. It sounds like Radke can sit out a few games, so maybe Foyt will get his chance.
