    Dell

Dell is fantastic. He is one of the best positional goalies I've seen play in the wcha for quite awhile. Not trying to take away anything from aaron's accomplishments but he is playing behind one of the best defenses the Sioux have had in a really, really long time. Some credit is due there. I am a Sioux fan, but I also watch a lot of other hockey, and UND is clearly the strongest team in the nation top to bottom. Let's get number eight!
  3. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised that UND and Denver are set into the same regional. I thought it could have been organized a little differently. Not really complaining though because the bracket is very fair overall. In fact, I think UND got the toughest bracket to play out of (you could make an argument for the West Region with CC and Michigan) But frankly I think UMD got the best spot of all the WCHA teams. Overall the Sioux have a good shot to get to the F4. I told my buddy the day we won the WCHA that the two teams I didn't want to play against in the regionals were BC and DU. Those two teams always play us tough, and seem to have had our number the past few seasons. Denver is tough but I feel the Sioux are slightly better this year. Once we get to the frozen four though- bring 'em on. The only way RPI has a shot in this game is if UND shits their pants and plays the worst game of the season. This game is theirs to lose. The Sioux are deeper, more physical, faster, and bigger. RPI may keep it close for a period or two, but by the 3rd we should see a serious sioux advantage. I've watched quite a bit of Eastern hockey this year and outside of a couple of the top teams (BC and Merrimack) the level of intensity and skill isn't even close to the WCHA . We're going to grind them down in the first 20-30 minutes and by the 2nd half of the game should be skating circles around them. No offense to RPI but I'd be suprised if this wasn't a 5-0 type of game. Even though I think DU is a better team, I am really hoping WMU wins this bout. I doubt it though.. I think we see DU pull this out and end up with another battle against the Pio's for a trip to St. Paul. Scary, because in my opinion they are the one team in the country that has the best shot to win against the Sioux. I watched Michigan play the other day, and they seemed fairly athletic and well rounded.. In fact they remind me a bit of UMD, but they are playing much better hockey than the Bulldogs are right now. I would expect to see Michigan vs BC in the west. Hopefully Michigan wins... we all know how the Sioux handle the wolverines in the NCAA's. I think the NCAA is trying to avoid an all WCHA frozen four again, because 5 teams are placed in 3 regionals... The NE regional could be interesting.. I haven't watched much of any of those teams, except for a couple of Merrimack games (wasn't really all that impressive) so I'm thinking Miami wins this one. Duluth played poorly down the stretch in the WCHA. I'm not sure what happened to them, but the skill is there for them to make the frozen four. Although I think Duluth seems to be getting worn out... I've seen Yale play some games, and to be honest I think their goaltender has stolen a lot of wins for them this year against a moderately tough schedule at BEST. That being said, if he keeps that up, Rondeau could get Yale all the way to the title game. Sort of reminiscent of Ryan Miller and Mich St. a few years back. They don't impress me that much, so I think this one is in Duluth's hands. IF they should show up and play their phsyical/fast game, I think they can win vs Union and then Yale in the championship. Soo... A North Dakota, Michigan, Minn-Duluth, Miami (OH) frozen four sounds pretty entertaining. Could be a little western biased, but the best teams are in the west this year. Although I really wouldn't mind getting the chance to see BC in the semi's and getting some revenge... that's always a GREAT game to watch too. Let's Go Sioux!
  4. Anyone know where to find TV listings for the game tonight? Doesn't look like FSN North is carrying the friday game...Thanks
  5. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,360241,00.html sad to see... only 21 years old.
  6. Great article. I have never seen a player, or a team as a matter of fact that is as determined as this one. Oshie's greatest strength lies not in the points he scores but in the way he changes the game every time he steps on the ice. This team feeds off of Oshie's and Lammy's energy and the level that they play at throughout every moment of every game. If any team in the last 4 years has what it takes to win #8, it is definately this one. BC is going to have it's hands full on thursday.
  7. It's gonna be Lammy, Porter, Gerbe. My guess is that Porter walks away with the award, especially after putting up 4 goals in one regional game. He has had a tremendous season. Give the Hobey to whoever, I would take Oshie over Porter any day, and Phil is the best goaltender in college hockey. I like our chances at the FF.
  8. I agree... Sioux need to skate hard and get UW to take penalties. I think our PP looks tough right now and i think that's going to be the key tonight.
  9. pathetic showing by the wcha tonight... was very dissapointed in SCSU i thought they would beat down clarkson. UND better pick it up tomorrow
  10. I have seen Miami play multiple times this year. They stand little to no chance against UND's forwards. Slower D than any of the top 5 WCHA teams, and maybe one line that could match up skill wise. Zatkoff is a pretty good goaltender but let's face it, he has not seen a group like UND, CC, St Cloud, would bring to the ice. I would be pleased to see them in UND's bracket to say the least, as they will be the weakest 1/2 seed of the bunch IMO.
  11. I really think Rett Rhakshani and Chris VandeVelde deserve to be recognized on these teams POTY - Lammy ROTY - Garrett Roe DOTY - Hillen First Team F Chad Rau CC F T.J. 12. Is this game being broadcast on sat. or directtv or anything?
  13. Not to take anything from Oshie, he is my favorite player to watch, but Kevin Porter is having a helluva season out at Michigan too.
  14. What time is the USA vs. Canada game on?
  15. I agree 100% because I fit in this category. I grew up in GF as a Sioux fan attending home games every weekend. I left GF to go to college and have flown back multiple times to see games (usually the gophers/badgers), and when I couldn't be there I listened or watched online. I've been out of GF for more than four years now and still follow the Sioux hockey team (and college hockey in general) very closely, but as I am a broke college kid I don't get to travel to see games as much as I'd like. Those of you who get to go - cheer extra loud for those of us who can't be there. That being said, I really appreciate all of the members on this board who post recaps and updates on everything sioux hockey. Let's get numero ocho this weekend...
  16. Not to mention the night he went after chris neil for a late hit on Drury... I think Stafford is doing well to solidify his place in the Sabres lineup
  17. Stafford picked up another goal and Bochenski netted one on an odd man rush for boston last night.
  18. Bummer, I was really hoping to see Bo and Toews playing together. I think Bo will get his shot, people knock his skating but in the NHL it doesn't matter. Points = $$$$. We know Bo can score, he proved that at Ottawa before he was injured. Let's hope that Boston will be a good situation for him.
  19. I don't think that's as cut and dry as some people may think. Plenty of the allure of Las Vegas comes from it's shopping, shows, clubs, and the variety of things to do that don't involve gambling. With that in mind, people will still spend plenty of money at the blackjack tables. I think Vegas is the perfect city to move an NHL franchise to, especially a team with young guns and future allstars like Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Armstrong, and Fleury.
  20. I'll admit I don't know too much about the process of buying players from other leagues (maybe someone would like to put some more light on the subject for me?) But one thing I do now is that as much as we all like to deny it, ice hockey is nothing compared to sports such as soccer, or baseball in terms of revenue, fan base, and so forth. While $200k may be a lowball offer, if the Russian team thinks they are going to get 10's of millions (as soccer teams get) like they suggested in the espn.com article, I would have to think that they are mistaken.
  21. When I read this story on ESPN.com I practically fell off of my chair in hysteria. "Sports Terrorism"... now that is just too funny. Sorry to break it to the russian's but the kid is by all means eligible to make his own decisions regarding his future, the fact that he didn't discuss his plans with his current team says more about his character and maturity than it does about an american buisness filling his "naive" head with dreams of playing in the NHL and making probably two to three times as much as he would in Russia. The fact is, a player of his calibur belongs in the NHL, and not in the russian elite league.
  22. Good for J. Parise and a Fantastic free agent signing for New Jersey. How many brothers have played on the same NHL club at the same time? I know the Sedin twins at Vancouver do...anyway, I must say he exceeded my initial expectations and if he would have gotten the ring I'd say he was maybe the best UND has ever had. One thing I noticed most about his play was his consistent improvement. To me it seemed that he began to read the plays so well that he made things look easy sometimes. Thats a great goaltender, and from my point of view he is still improving alot. Good Luck to Jordan Parise, and thanks for 3 great seasons.
  23. Are you kidding me? Hakstol in his first two years takes a Broadmore trophy home and makes 2 frozen four appearances, one of them with a team of 13 freshman in the lineup who no one expected to be there. Call that curse if you wish, hell, keep the curses and jihads coming as far as I'm concerned.
