Siouxhockey03 Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I'm sure it's not true, but here you go HF Board EDIT: There should be a couple ?? after Columbus Quote
Fighting Sioux Fan Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Hopefully he is going to Columbus in April for the Frozen Four... Quote
Goon Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I wouldn't believe it until I see it on NHL.com and I just looked both at the http://www.nhl.com and the Columbus home page and there is nothing there on this. Quote
deeks pizza Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 oh come on goon, dont go into denial, just like everyone did when zach was leaving. dean is OUTTA HERE! Quote
#1siouxfan22 Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 This does make me nervous. Hopefully he stays one more year for one more nation championship. but if he goes to the nhl for head coaching job hopefully he does good. Quote
U2Bad1 Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 So . (IF it is true).. who would replace him? Maybe Bulldog fans should be more nervous than sioux fans. Quote
Wantagh Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 The question should be asked, If Dean Blais accepted a postion with Columbus wouldn't USA Hockey have to find a new World Jr coach. Why would Dean want to miss a large tournament like this knowing that he still has a chance to coach in the NHL later? Quote
sprig Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 The newest posts in the thread now have Gallant being named as head coach today. ??;)? Quote
UND Fan Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 But many of the boards also have Blais as the Associate Head Coach behind Gallant. I would be very surprised if Dean would make the move without being THE head coach along with a great deal of authority. Quote
Greyeagle Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 So . (IF it is true).. who would replace him? Maybe Bulldog fans should be more nervous than sioux fans. Someone (CD) is already saddled up (CD) next to the (CD) phone. How is DB's family doing? I would suspect that would be a significant factor in his decision. Quote
schmidtdoggydog Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I hope DB isn't leaving and doubt that he is, but the one positive, if that is possible in such a situation, is at least KG would get a fair shot at showing what he can do against the big boys in the NHL. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Would any guy who interviewed for the top job take second-fiddle to the guy who got the job? Greyeagle's point (family) is a very good one. End of statement. Quote
ScottM Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Greyeagle's point (family) is a very good one. End of statement. Agreed. Quote
Greyeagle Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Greyeagle's point (family) is a very good one. End of statement. You mean the CD point isn't a good one? Quote
The Commodore Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Someone (CD) is already saddled up (CD) next to the (CD) phone. How is DB's family doing? I would suspect that would be a significant factor in his decision. Okay, I'm an idiot. It's early in the morning and I can't figure out who Greyeagle is referring to with "CD." Someone fill me in please. Quote
ScottM Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Okay, I'm an idiot. It's early in the morning and I can't figure out who Greyeagle is referring to with "CD." Someone fill me in please. "CD" refers to Craig Dahl. Dahl made some comment that he would take "the Call" from Madison when Wisco was looking to fill Sauer's slot. Instead, they sobered up and called Mike Eaves. Quote
Goon Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 So . (IF it is true).. who would replace him? Maybe Bulldog fans should be more nervous than sioux fans. Oh I am sure, he would be the first choice to take Deans place. That being said, I doubt. With the World Juniors coming up and he is the coach. I wouldn't put much stock into it. Just someone trolling. Quote
Goon Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 The newest posts in the thread now have Gallant being named as head coach today. ??;)? I would bet that Web Page has no credibility at all. Unless its in the press in Columbus, on http://www.NHL.com or the Blue Jackets home page which it is not I don't believe it. http://www.bluejackets.com/ Quote

sagard Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 The NHL labor problems combined with Blais not quite being done with his UND contract, I don't see why he'd leave. Unless of course, he got a now or never offer with a rediculous salary. Even then, it's not like Columbus won't be looking for a coach again in a year or two anyways. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Gino got 3 (1980, 1982, 1987). Blais needs to get his 3 (1997, 2000, ?) before he can go. Then we'll get three from the next guy*. ;) * Former UND All-American Scott Sandelin? GF Central alumnus and UND All-American Steve Johnson from the Lincoln Stars? Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 If you were Dean would you leave Grand Forks for Columbus??? I sure wouldn't with all the stuff he gets at UND. His salary, car, retirement benefits, etc. He would be dumb to leave and pull his kids out of school. If he does leave, I agree that Bulldogs fans should be very nervous. Quote
schmidtdoggydog Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 ESPN ran a scroll across the screen over the noon hour indicating that the CBJ's are set to announce Gallant as their new head coach. Sorry Goofer fans! Quote
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 oh come on goon, dont go into denial, just like everyone did when zach was leaving. dean is OUTTA HERE! Yep, you're full of credibility... Quote
