chicagolandsioux Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 This is not fair. Lots of kids get some sort of assistance... And now you want to tell their family that "you can come here... But if you can't pay that last grand on your own.... Jimmy can't play sports." North Dakota private schools recruit a lot less than people think. Why is that not fair? It puts them on equal footing with the public schools. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Any actual game updates? #1 Rugby beat New Town in OT Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Wow...top play of the day on ESPN SportsCenter. What an incredible shot. Quote

UND1983 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 That is what makes the B so special. Because the Class A never has any good games: Quote
sprig Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Memory not so good, but I remember the B being in Minot in the 60's when Kenmare was winning titles. Quote
MoreSiouxForYou Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Why is that not fair? It puts them on equal footing with the public schools. The premise of each private school in this state is a education along with a religious element. They are not started to play sports. Get them state funding and they could be on equal ground with the public schools. Would that make it fair as they already have that disadvantage? Quote

Hmnnn...tell me again the great "disadvantage" that Trinity High School has had in the SW corner of ND since they dropped to Class B. And don't get me started on good old New England St Mary's, with their billet Catholic families more than willing to host a kid who could use some guidance and Christian education...oh, and it helped if he was 6'5" and could hoop it up, too. Everyone needs a sheppard? They just have cattle not sheep. You are choosing a closed instance, if one in particular at all. And if they are, it's high school sports. The reason they were introduced in the first place is the life lessons they instill. The teamwork, selfless and selfishness of the world. What they have spun into is not perfect, but in the genuine spirit, they are still great. As a way to teach kids life lessons in a harmless manner. This never ending recruiting spiel, is a pouting of haves and have nots. (Again, another life lesson) It's parents who want every kid to get a trophy. That applies to both sides of the argument. MafiaMan Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 So it's Cavalier and Beulah for 5th? North Star vs Linton for 3rd? Do they still play a 7th place game? Quote
Wilbur Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 So it's Cavalier and Beulah for 5th? North Star vs Linton for 3rd? Do they still play a 7th place game? Yes they do. The winner is dubbed "Mr. Irrelevant". Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Yes they do. The winner is dubbed "Mr. Irrelevant". That's kind of unfair...7th or even 8th place in the state is still an accomplishment, even though it may not seem like it at the time. Quote
