Last time I was in Albatross (been over a year) the food was all cooked in a microwave. Not sure if its changed. Though the place kind of felt like an afterthought and felt dirty. The Range looks nice. A lot of places want to be a restaurant/bar with golf Sims. Albatross is golf focused: a pro shop, golf lessons, high end simulators (including wrap around sims). The golf is first. The "bar" at Albatross is mainly like a beer cart at a golf course. And he likes it that way. I thought his newer place in the mall was pretty nice. Feels like a "modern bowling alley" with each "lane" having it's own tvs and couches. If you're there for the pure golfing experience. Albatross wins easily. The Range Sims are equivalent to the ones they sell for at home use. 1 Quote

Sounds like that guy could work with the Ray Richards Developers - he could potentially expand his business to the new building. 1 Quote

Popular Post Godsmack Posted June 11 Popular Post Posted June 11 Just wanted to let everyone know I’m doing my part to help support the Grand Forks economy. In town visiting family and stopped at the Red Pepper for a grinder (with taco meat) and a soda. 6 Quote

Cars backed up to the Hobby Lobby! Guess it helps when they are giving away free drinks! We will see how many employees they need once people have to pay full price. Looked like a fun place to work though for young people! But i wouldnt like to work there in the Winter 2 Quote

Liven up the course with some template designs. I'm not asking for Tom Doak but maybe a young local-ish guy that wants to make a name for himself. 1 Quote

You just provided an alternate routing. I'm talking about re-shaping some greens, reconfigure bunkers, fix the damn drainage. It's been done successfully at many other locations(SEE: Winter Park 9). Make the course actually enjoyable for multiple levels of players. I can't imagine playing 8 and 9 in its current form as anything above a 15 handicap. It's not a good course. 2 Quote

I agree!!! We have so many apartments already. Probably don't need more apartments or there will be vacant apartments. Because there's only so many people in the city. Quote

JakeLove Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I think you can do it but it is not apparent anyone has tried. 10 stories of housing is a big deal. Besides, with the many apartment projects with their hands out (I count 6) I don’t yet see support for the tax incentives the developers will or will soon request. 1 Quote

Why does it need to remain a par 36? If you're referring to you don't want it to be a par 3 course I'll get on board but not concerned if it ends up being a par 34 or 35. I am on board though with the top golf set up though, I'm assuming that means we'd be able to hit some golf balls outside in the winterish months. That would be awesome. 2 Quote

Kab Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Just get it done as presented with housing and the golf driving range . if grand forks isn’t building more living spaces of all kinds it’s going to be left further behind than it is build what people want, Fargo and Bismarck are building snowbird type housing now where you actually own the space and pay for it and the hoa fees monthly, then sell when you move on. build where there is actually infrastructure in place so the costs are lower , up not out . 1 Quote
