If the change is true, the NCAA would probably avoid antitrust lawsuits by Liberty and maybe even the Big Sky and CAA.

If there was only a couple of G5 slots left, why wouldn't JMU and Mo St have jumped on them? They had to have known something was up, because the FBS train was leaving and they knew something else would happen.

The mvc would take the xdsu's in a heartbeat if they became a football conference!

And if they became a hockey conference they would take UND in a heartbeat.

And if my aunt had ... nevermind.

just replying to the resident nut jobs wild hypothesis

There are more than a few bison fans that have said the Big Sky could never ever go FBS. Where are they now, if this rumor is true? Going spastic?

Bozoville has already had a meltdown when they heard Coastal and Eastern Ky had FBS interests from the Sun Belt. Having an existing FBS conference making an invite is far cleaner and less expensive. At least the Big Sky has at least one Bowl: the Famous Idaho Potato.

CSNBBS realignment board. G5 posters refuse to believe it or even talk about it as their only true power is by being a cartel and gatekeeper to FBS. Obviously it hasn't been introduced yet for voting.

So your source is just another message board with other rubes? No legitimate comments from actual AD's or Presidents or NCAA people??

Yah, the AD's and Presidents are coming out on the record and telling everyone exactly what they are talking about with member institutions.  Those official articles are everywhere.   :silly:

A number of rumors from that board have become true. Some media and high level contacts post there anonymously.

Ask yourself if the P5 would support this? The G5 wouldn't obviously. The P5 runs DI now, not DI institutions generally.

The same guy that suggested the Summit become an FBS conference.

Seriously.

CSNBBS is proof of infinite monkeys + infinite typewriters = Shakespeare. It's a good board, but it's many times more active than SS and they absolutely love rumors. They'll have at least a dozen or two going on at any given time. Law of probability says at least some of them will end up correct. The trick is figuring out which handful are true. The trap is in only believing the ones you want to believe.

At least there's intelligent apes there, unlike the lower form lemur primates of bisonville, who get into tantrums about anything and everything.

BTW, I pm'ed the poster you referenced. He said its from among Jacksonville St, Liberty, and Youngstown St sources. He an Idaho grad who has said even Idaho's AD Spear mentioned it. Jim Tressel and Bo Pelini are going to pull out all stops to get Youngstown St FBS.

Don't see the need for your first sentence.  He's just giving input to the discussion, and, from what I've read in the past, he always seems to have decent input without the smack.

Hammersmith is a two-faced poster. If you saw some of his posts on other Slummit boards denigrating UND with glee, that should be enough evidence.

As far as BSC going FBS, which teams would support this?  I can only thing of 4 that could financially do it and UND isn't one of them.  The BSC wouldn't look like it does today if it happened.

Love or hate the CSNBBS, the first place I ever encountered the phases "P5" or "G5" was there, and it was before I'd ever heard the terms used by athletics officials or major media. Somebody there knew something.

The ncaa has given an emphatic NO to FCS conferences requesting to move up in the past, last case was the CAA.  So, you can keep starting rumors if you like, but a BSC request to move up would be . . . DENIED, under current rules.  Thanks for playing.

You must admit that even you say it is possible when you say ...

... under current rules.

Folks on this site are very familiar with the NCAA changing rules arbitrarily and capriciously.

The NCAA doesn't like antitrust or restraint of trade lawsuits against them. And the P5 now has a moat so they don't care. The NCAA backs down leaving the G5 even more weakened by watering it down with FCS schools.

So you happen to know what Deanna Zink has up her sleave?

SV isn't the only one that talks about the BSC moving up, Doug Fullerton is on record talking about the BSC moving up....look it up.

I actually agree with the rumor, I see the P5 wanting more G5 teams. A number of FBS school do not want to play FCS schools anymore but paying G5 schools can get expensive. More G5 schools won't impact their revenue streams in anyway and it will increase the potential pool of schools they can schedule and as a result drive down guarantees a bit.
