jimdahl
At least one of these is pretty familiar to people who search for online streams of UND hockey games... U.S. seizes 10 sports streaming websites Atdhe.net, channelsurfing.net, hq-streams.com, hqstreams.net, firstrow.net, ilemi.com, iilemi.com, iilemii.com, rojadirecta.org and rojadirecta.com are the names of the seized sites. "The illegal streaming of professional sporting events over the Internet deals a financial body blow to the leagues and broadcasters who are forced to pass their losses off to fans by raising prices for tickets and pay-per-view events," Bharara said. The sites were disabled Tuesday, and have since been replaced by a posting notifying visitors that "This domain has been seized by ICE - Homeland Security Investigations." The seizures were carried out by the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. tho0505
I blame Goon! Haha, it usually is all his fault. I like the statement that it deals a financial blow, as if they aren't making billions already. Nice work feds, why don't you worry about something that truly matters. I'm surprised they didn't try and sue a 10 yr old to try and "make an example" of them, like the recording industry did.
SiouxFanatic
Well so much for the Feds trying to stop Channelsurfing. They are back up. New website URL though: http://www.channelsurf.eu

tho0505
Demonoid.com / demonoid.me, a popular torrent site, did the same thing when it got seized. I'm surprised justin.tv doesnt have more issues.

I'm surprised justin.tv doesnt have more issues. I think that's because they are way more proactive about taking pirated feeds down. I've watched several NFL games on there and usually by half time or so the feed is taken off line.

Can't see really any games online at that site for NFL. NHL/MLS/NBA aren't nearly as strict about it. MLB is another that is extremely strict about it. Last year, I don't have cable, I couldn't catch a single Twins playoff game online.

The Whistler
I have a lot of sympathy for those that want to make information free, but property rights are property rights and the law is the law. What concerns me about this is that these investigations were done by Homeland inSecurity and Immigration and Customers Enforcement. Jeez, these guys are grossly failing in their main jobs and they're out screwing around with this inconsequential stuff.

Jeez, these guys are grossly failing in their main jobs and they're out screwing around with this inconsequential stuff. Most "cyber crimes", such as online copyright violations, are handled by DHS. If there's serious money involved you can call in the Secret Service and FBI. Same as if these streaming sites were also used for malware attacks, hacking, DDNS, etc. So "inconsequential" or not, the feds take this stuff pretty seriously, and they do have a pretty decent track record of jailing repeat offenders. Throw in the fact you have copyright owners with serious bucks on the table, and these sites will probably not be long for this world. luapsided
so these some of these sites show all of our games? or not so much?
82SiouxGuy
so these some of these sites show all of our games? or not so much? Those are all sites that rebroadcast regular and cable TV on the internet. Some of them would occasionally have a UND game. Someone that does the rebroadcasting would have to be interested in UND sports and have access to the signal to put it on the internet. I have watched sports on channelsurfing, justin and firstrow plus a few others. I've watched NFL games on all 3 and seen UND hockey on at least 2 of them. But UND sports didn't show up on them very often.

I would agree that Cyber crimes are in the purview of the FBI and Secret Service. I don't understand how anyone thought that throwing responsibility for bootlegging video onto the Immigration and Custom Enforcement. It seems to me that they aren't an investigatory agency and would be better off staying focused on what they should be focused on.

ICE also goes after people that are into child pornography, they have been for a while. I am not sure how they got into this type of enforcement, you would think it would be the FBI.
