On Friday, the Daily Herald of Chicago reported the Blackhawks will make Toews the youngest captain in the NHL next season and the third-youngest in NHL history.

Only Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh) and Vincent Lecavalier (Tampa Bay) were NHL team captains at a younger age than Toews, who turned 20 in April.

The Winnipeg native also wore the ‘A’ at UND as an 18-year-old sophomore. He’s the youngest player at UND to wear a letter.

“There’s no question that he’s a natural leader,” UND?coach Dave Hakstol said. “He’s absolutely driven to win and goes about everything in the right way. He’s a consummate professional. We saw that here from the start.”

Are they serious in wanting $12 to read the story or was there something else I needed to do?

Sorry about that. There was no charge this morning. It appears they archived it. Here's a link to the actual event.

Yes. A "change of scenery" so that a player may play in Austria is alway the most compelling reason an NHL team would not re-sign a propsect.

LOL

Bryan Lundbohm signs minor league deal with the Wild. Good thing he signed early to start his pro career after soph (?) season.

I believe Bryan signed after his junior year. He'd played on some very successful teams at UND and his signing value was at it's peak so he took advantage of the situation. He can't really be blamed for signing because if he had waited another year it's doubtful that he could have topped that offer.

My only question is why Austria and not Finland or Sweden? You get more notice in those leagues.
