  1. You guys are talking about a small portion of the jobs that will be needed for a plant. Most of these are upper level jobs or management (typically engineers and not business majors...) The majority of the jobs will be the operators that need to be highly knowledgeable and trained. Trying to recruit those people to ND will be difficult.
  2. I’m pretty sure the new Oneok pipeline will be transporting ethane with the rest of the NGLs so obviously new pipelines will be part of the solution to get ethane out of the state. Prices for ethane are also spiking at the hub in Texas so producers will want to ship their NGLs there to get the best price. Ethane isn’t trapped in ND, there just isn’t a market for it in the region so it is shipped out. Alliance pipeline also transports a considerable amount of ethane. Pipelines could be and currently are the sole solution to getting ethane out of the state. Pipelines are also the best way to transport goods as dealing with solid plastic pellets on train cars is so inefficient. These big plastic plants are located on the coast so that they can be shipped overseas on ships.
  3. Obviously it’s used for a lot of consumer products as I’m not questioning that, but the question is how much will be turned into products here? If not consumed locally it will have to be shipped out to markets that use it and the cost of the rail transportation to the coasts is not cheap. It would be a different story if we started to make products right here in ND
  4. The officiating needs some transparency with some very questionable call over that last few years. The officials should take boos for making bad calls. I don’t know why we need to bow down to these bad officials.
  5. https://www.willistonherald.com/news/oil_and_energy/north-dakota-s-first-suitor-for-plastics-plant-files-for/article_e30e8810-7687-11e9-bcf9-6fcbb018e54a.html this is why I am skeptical about no name companies proposing plastics plants in ND. Sounds like the current company proposing on has their ducks in a row better, but there are still some big hurdles to come. They might start with building an ethylene plant but what are they going to do with the ethylene in ND? Ship it out on rail costing $$$$$? I think the best way to deal with this ethane and other NGLs is to ship them out on NGL pipelines. Other big hurdles is where are they going to find a trained workforce? They have cheap ethane and natural gas as inputs, but where/ how are the products going to go to market. Plastics plants are dirty operations so I hope the state doesn’t get us into an ecological disaster.
  6. How much did these go for
  7. Question on the policy of showing replays in college hockey. It always annoying the poss out of me when they wouldn’t show replays on the big screens after or during big reviews. We are installing these big monitors yet cut the spectators out of these reviews? Seems like a good way to piss off fans. If I remember they stsrted doing that so they don’t enrage the fans, well the fans should be enraged if they are keeping these reviews from the fans. Just another reason to sit at home and watch the game.... and people still wonder why no one attends games...
  8. I doubt the ethane pipeline will reverse flow or switch to propane without any major changes in the plastics plants in Edmonton. They need to get their feedstock from some where. As a producer I’d ship to reliable purchaser that I can count on. the plastics complex is still far fetched in my opinion as non of the big players have any interest in building a plant in ND. You know how desperate the legislature is when they throw around tax incentives like they just passed. As a resident of ND I don’t want a no name company building a plastics plant in ND because if it fails there will be no one left to clean up the mess or even pay for it. If a plastics plant was such a good investment then it would already be built. What would we do with raw plastics in ND? Ship it by rail across the country? To me that sounds like an expensive proposition. The reason a urea fertilizer plant was built in ND is because the economics worked out where the cheap natural gas was available locally and the product produced is consumed locally. The logistics play a big part in plant economics. For the record I’m also still skeptical about this new refinery getting built that is supposed to be economical.
  9. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/redskins-rookie-minicamp-observations-notes-haskins-mclaurin-undrafted-guys-and-more Great news!!!!! Pumped for Harris hope we will see him play on Sundays.
  10. That’s the thing they care more about the program than they care about the university as a whole. They can take their whining and shove it. To say their program is more important than the football team is an insult to the university. I wish they would have stayed at the UM.
  11. Any news on Santiago or Harris? Will they try the CFL route next?
  12. The twins are dragging UND through the mud with their temper tantrum. There is no reason UND supporters should be understanding of that. They no longer deserve our respect for acting like that. My alma mater means more to me than my person rifts with anything related to my time at UND.
  13. Brad is too busy starting to advocate again for us to restart the women’s hockey program. Do you think they will make this a big issue when they bring the potential presidential hires to campus? here is his latest article that says women’s hockey was important to developing some big time coaches in Grand Forks. Yup a women’s hockey team is critical so we can be a training ground for coaches. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/4608566-und-womens-hockey-program-was-launching-pad-coaches
  14. So which team is going to hire Hak. I’m sure he is at the top of the list but can a startup afford him?
  15. Well they signed an eagles cornerback and WR Darius Shepherd today. Haven’t seen any other announcements.
  16. You are right let’s stick with the awesome logo we have now.
  17. Sadly moo you has more notoriety that our ugly f hawks logo. Wining championships and advancing in the big dance helps
  18. Create a new logo.... not rocket science
  19. ND better than people thinking I’m an eagle fan
  20. I always got shout outs in the airports across the country with my sioux gear on. Now there has hardly been nothing with fhawks. What makes it even worse is when people think it’s the Eagles. It’s sad that people who know the Sioux logo have no idea what this new logo is. I have never had anyone mistake the Sioux logo for a Blackhawks logo especially if they were hockey fans.... Its a joke and needs to be fixed. I met a guy in Missouri who went to school at Bemidji and had no clue what my hat was. That is a shame.
  21. At least that logo wasn’t ugly and you could at least make out what it stood for.
  22. Wasn’t blaming him. I liked Kennedy and everything he did at UND and I wish he wouldn’t have left. I blame old man Eddy and Kennedy obviously didn’t make it a priority to fix this huge mistake
  23. Hopefully the next president can pick us a new logo. So embarrassing traveling around the US and people think the logo on your hat is a philli eagles logo. So much for setting our identity. This is why many can’t move on from the Sioux logo....
  24. Brady was taken in the second round at 14th overall. Congrats to him. Do you think he kept any nfl camp invites on the down low so it wouldn’t hurt his chances at a high cfl draft pick? I would assume they wouldn’t want to burn a high pick on a guy that might jump to the nfl
  25. I still don’t see any big plastics plants being proposed in ND. You finally giving up on that claim? NGL’s will be shipped out of the state and that’s it.
