  1. It's very possible - maybe even likely - that he had an offer from Iowa. It's also likely that it wasn't a committable offer. In recent years the SEC has begun to give offers that are non committable. It's become their way of showing the recruit "we are interested in you." A small percentage of offers are "you can commit to us at any time," but most are just to show interest. Urban Meyer and James Franklin have brought this practice to the Big Ten. It's a weird way to do business but it's the way of the world today.
  2. I'd like to see a JUCO tackle and interior OL brought in. It looks like the coaching staff agrees.
  3. My bad! Sorry man. That’s funny!
  4. It seems pretty clear that you don't closely watch - or understand - offensive line play.
  5. Makes no difference - the only legit comparison is if other Big Sky football champs get them.
  6. Completely over the top.
  7. I'm not arguing that that there isn't some level of a cultural issue on the team. Please refer to my original post.
  8. We understand your opinion on this subject. You have posted it 43,572 times (give or take). There is room for an opinion that is different or more nuanced than yours, too. I have been told things that in some ways differ from your info. I have no idea which fact is correct (or if it's a combination of the two) but your account of the situation is being accepted as fact by many posters here. I hope everyone is open to the possibility that what Midwestern Hawk posts on this subject may - or may not - be 100% true.
  9. I️ upvoted it because there is more to the story. Unless more info comes out that refutes what I️ heard these men got the shaft. (Reserving the right to change my mind with more info)
  10. What I was trying to say with this sentence... "This incompetent and stubborn theme that has become the narrative simply isn't true based on players I've talked to." ... was that the "incompetent and stubborn" narrative that has become attached to Rudy and Bubba simply isn't true (at least in this instance) based on the fact that Brad earned the start with his practice habits. I was not taking a shot at you. I'm sorry I wasn't more clear.
  11. Why do you have to be so mean? Seriously. Why? Isn't there a nicer way to disagree? It's replies like this that are a real stain to this board. I agree with you - there IS a night and day difference between Brad and Zim. It's obvious. And yes I was at the Montana game and was screaming out loud to put Zim in the game throughout the first half. And I was at the Weber game. But my post wasn't defending the decision to start Brad... I was just passing along information. You appear to missed the entire point of my post. Once again I am not a Heidelbaugh apologist. I brought this up because there is a mob mentality that Bubba and Rudy refused to start Zim because they are stubborn and refuse to admit a mistake. But according to the players I've spoken to Brad earned the start with his practice play - the coaches went with the player that earned it. That's all. I'm not defending Rudy, or Bubba, or Brad, or anyone. Just passing along information.
  12. I will cheer twice as loud in your honor.
  13. Sorry to hear that. What a bummer on multiple levels.
  14. It's time for this narrative to go away. Brad clearly - and I mean CLEARLY - outplayed Zim in practice all season and immediately leading up to the Montana game. Every player I've spoken to agrees with this. Zim often didn't know what he was doing regarding pre snap reads and making the right choices during the plays in practice. Brad was the clear #2 QB based on the fact that he knew what he was doing and Zim often did not. Based on that I don't think Rudy or Bubba were playing favorites. They chose the QB based on what they observed in practice. Once the first half vs. Montana was over it was clear that Zimmerman needed a shot and he took advantage of his playing time. This incompetent and stubborn theme that has become the narrative simply isn't true based on players I've talked to. Hey - don't shoot the messenger here... I'm not a Heidelbaugh apologist - it's obvious that Zimmerman should be the #2 - but based on what I've been told Brad earned the start in practice.
  15. I agree with your assessment, and I don’t disagree with a lot of the criticism of Rudy. But Siouxphan27 said that we’d never contend for a championship with Rudy and we won the conference championship with him. That’s all I’m saying.
  16. You mean like the 2016 Big Sky Championship?
  17. Sure, but the age of the players, in this case, has more to do with it than anything IMO. I don't have an opinion on one way or the others about Knauf but in the last four years they've lost the following linemen: Rashad Williams Dustin Adams Jacob Francis Bendan Slaight Dylan Beck Demon Taylor Kevin Camy Justin Merz Elijah Grady Canadian OL (forgot his name) That's an entire two deep right there. Now if most of those guys left because of Knauf then he should be held accountable. But they didn't - there were other factors in play. You could certainly argue that they need to recruit differently and some of that blame should fall on the line coach. I'd agree with that argument. But if Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State's line was freshman, freshman, sophomore, freshman, and senior you know they would struggle.
  18. Who can't hang? And do you know for a fact that it's his coaching that is the reason they aren't succeeding in your eyes?
  19. The second half of the Sac State game: Freshman, Freshman, Sophomore, Freshman, Senior That's why calls for Knopf's head mystify me.

I disagree with one point they made. They advocate subbing in Ngyuan more often for Stockwell. Nate already sees a couple of series each game at G and has had some snaps at center so he is getting experience. Most of all, though, because Stockwell is a senior and has given his body to the program he has earned the right to play. The man doesn't practice during the week because his body is so beaten down, and he plays hurt - and plays well - each week. In my opinion the staff has handled the rotation well so far - give Nate some experience, let AJ play the majority of the game when his body allows. AJ has earned it.
  21. I saw a game at Nebraska - it should be near the top of every college football fan's list. I hope the Hawks play there someday.

What makes this comparison irrelevant is that UND hockey is one of the, if not the top program in all of college hockey. Same with NDSU in FCS. Because of that established excellence both teams have fantastic depth. UND football is just at the beginning of their D1 football journey and isnt there yet. That's the goal, though.
