Many of the most important ingredients are there for UND to have a shot against a superior team: they don't typically turn the ball over, a senior QB, a strong defense. I'm hoping for a couple of breaks - if so we'll be in the game.

OK but the scholarships are not funded by the university either... they are donated by individuals. I'm not sure what other football related items are funded by the university and what is donated but it appears we may be surprised if we really knew who actually pays the "cost of doing business" if we had access to their spreadsheet.

This is discouraging that the football budget is not big enough to cover the knee braces and concussion caps. We either have a division 1 football program or we don't - as of now it appears we do not yet have the funds to run a legitimate division 1 football program from top to bottom. The staff is forced into making difficult choices that may affect the health of their players. This is a glimpse into the real budget problems the athletic department is having and why other programs were cut. It appears from the outside that steps are being taken to fund the existing programs appropriately but the issues are clearly not solved yet. I'm surprised this thread has not generated more comments. The revelation of the lack of funds is a real eye opener. Thank you UND Fan for bringing this to our attention and organizing a fund raiser.

Whether rings were given to past division 2 UND football teams is not directly relevant to this discussion IMO. Nor is it relevant if other UND sports got one this year. The most relevant comparison - did past Big Sky football conference champions get rings? It appears the answer is yes. If that's the case I hope the players get one.

Tom Miller reported that Cox has the RT job locked up. Bell, Aplin, and Tobin are battling for the LG spot.

Jade sat out the scrimmage. Apparently he's had a great camp.

I understand some of the offensive position groups are going to play the majority of the scrimmage with the twos and threes. I am not sure if that is going to be the same throughout the entire team or not.

Pretty sure they were just getting a good look at him today. I would guess he does not start against Utah. Just a guess though.

Both you and CMSioux make valid points. My issue is attacking the poster instead of the post, especially a fellow UND fan.

These kind of responses are disheartening. Someone posts something people don't like and the knives come out. It happened to me a number of times. It's kept me from posting more, to be honest. I guess that's the ropes on a public board like this but it's a shame. The original poster is correct to a degree. Grady has missed a number of workouts throughout the summer (others have too... they are not technically mandatory). He's still a member of the team. He'll be a fascinating player to watch when camp begins to see how he adjusts back to football and how the team accepts him.

I don't believe he's need a medical redshirt as he hasn't used his regular redshirt yet.

I'd hate to speculate but I'm prepared for the worst.

Unfortunately it's not a rumor.

Championship teams adjust when a major injury happens to one of the team's top players. We may have the depth to deal with it thanks improved recruiting over the last few years.
