    2016 Season

What the HPC helps with is ball skills on deep balls, those 50/50 type throws. As much as the receivers our b-backs will benefit greatly from this.

Odds are a RB will go down with an injury during the year, 4 deep isn't the worst problem to have. Santiago might be the most versatile to bump out to the slot on occasion to get others some touches. Also, some 2 back sets, meaning 2 HBs as Nevermann, Oliviera, and Gordon have some 'beef' for blocking, yet pose a greater running threat than our FBs. (random thoughts) Is it safe to say Norberg is #1 FB?

Mostly referring to Grady shuffling things up but possibly a little about the Eagan kid coming in, too.

WR is a position that a guy could come in this fall and make a big impact. This isn't true for all positions, though.

Now that passes the eye test. 'So Long' Santiago and 'Super' Eppy along with Clive (needs a nickname)

Good discussion- My 2 cents - Walker was a ghost, wasn't establishing himself as an impact guy, real inconsistent. Smith, I know we are suppose to be super hyped about all our guys but just take the eye test on 2 true freshman from last year, Smith vs. Santiago, one had it and the other, not so much, and nothing showed me that Smith would have been special. Santiago is a tough measuring stick, but seriously, Smith was missing some intangibles on the field. I think some depth chart issues are at play....... Seibel, 'guessing' is out for the fall. Another Smith comparison, I think Seibel was more effective on jet sweeps than Smith. Seibel is a warrior, always got yards, this will hurt some. WR group- we are feeling good about Clive, Stanley, Reed, Carr as top 4. Toivonen has a shot to play in the fall. Not fully ruling out the others in the position group. Also, some good athletes are normally available for transfer.......we likely just freed up some $$. WR PMA (positive mental attitude) is up in the locker room. Other receiving options - At TE I think Cloyd is in the mix for sure. As someone mentioned he looked like an oversized WR in high school. Also, Mollberg adds a receiving dimension to the TE group. We could have a 3 TE set and 2 would be really good receiving options. Also, as mentioned, with the RB depth, Santiago in the slot will stress a defense. O-Line- I think we will be better here than some are thinking. I am penciling in Grady and Stockwell at tackles. I know Boas played a lot better his senior year, but I think with the mix of guys in the middle we could be better at center in 2016 than last year. At the guards, we have 3 juniors, and 2-3 young guys in the mix, all the juniors have starting experience. Cox also can play anywhere on the line which is valuable for depth.
  7. For sure. I am assuming Bowling Green will run the same system this year in spite of coaching turnover. If you've watched them, they snap the ball every 15 seconds on offense. With our cornerback depth and talent I think we'll have a cover package with 3 corners on the field at the same time, for teams like Bowling Green or for times when teams go pass happy. We actually needed that last year but were a tad short on 3 corners being ready. I think Hunt helps that much. Having Irvin-Sills a whole year in our system helps, too. Carter hopefully bounces back with his shoulder and Harris should shine. Having Jawon Johnson a year at safety can only help him in coverage this year as an OLB. Our LB's got 'used' a little running down the field last year.
  8. Ya, boxing really sucked during the Virgil Hill years. The Hearns, Hagler, Leonard, Duran historic fights were near the end and some bum named Mike Tyson just entered into boxing in the late 80's, early 90's. YAWN!!!!! BORING!!!!!
  9. I was trying to count brain cells on Bisonville, a while back, and a poster was talking about Wentz liking pizza. It was pathetic. No brain cells found of course.
  10. Utilize indoor facility. If someone was to get hurt, longer healing time before fall camp. Give the guys a taste of football to remind them to not be idiots over spring break. More time to study for finals. -just guessing

Reads as if Northern Arizona and Weber St. could be pretty tough this year. Eastern, and both Montana's have some issues that's for sure. UND would sound better with the Grady train back on the track.
  12. The experience in this area is that marijuana isn't overlooked as much as alcohol. North Dakota has won some 'awards' for most beer consumed per individual in the country......and the beer drinkers in the state are proud of it!! If you think the cops around here are driving around profiling you are mistaken, they are stretched too thin for that. Being part of the football team can only help in legal matters, I know from experience having to walk into RT's office my freshman year. I served my time, a half, and moved on.
  13. Not sure who 'us' is but opinions vary from please pass the joint to a 1-2 game suspension. I'm sure the punishment will fit somewhere in-between.
  14. 2 years in a row for the team, sounds like a chronic problem-
  15. Fair enough. I hope it's just a small issue that we can get past.
  16. Actually, I am on record saying pot can destroy a team. I rather have players tossing a few brews back because it is socially acceptable and when someone is 21, it's legal. I was poking the pro pot guys that argued with me. Sorry Cratter.......
  17. Likely pot???? A totally harmless and acceptable drug according to 3/4s of the posters on this site.

I have heard good things about Joe and his move to TE. Guessing more of a pass catcher than blocker-

This spring we will sort out roles for Norberg and Nevermann. Could be some slash players with snaps at RB/FB/H-back/TE.

That's what I heard, he's a JR. this year eligibility wise. Jawon Johnson will be OLB.

The staff isn't conflicted. They are not worried about this situation lessening the standard for being committed to UND football.
  22. So the Miami Hurricanes went on a marketing blitz and then their football team took off. I'm getting stupid here-
  23. Really.....that's what you took from that. I think others understood my point.
  24. If you have a crappy product the solution isn't to market it more, that's silly. The solution is to get a better product and everything else will gravitate towards that. We have a good product now heading into 2016 but a little unknown to the average Joe. It takes time and we still need the effort and ideas, but it gets easier with a good product.
